More than a year ago two of my friends, Elbert and Poly, asked me to take some couple photos for them and suddenly after one year I was chosen to be the photographer for their wedding because they realized my photos were the best. The wedding even though was very simple, with few international friends, it was heartwarming very emotional.
Elbert is from Tanzania, Poly is Bulgarian and it was complicated for them to get married in South Korea due to their difference in cultures and distance, but their 7-year love story was strong enough to push them forward.
As the photographer, I'm very happy to witness and capture those moments so I want to share here with you.
These photos I took in 2015 with A7ii, Samyang 135mm T2.2, FD 85mm f/1.2 S.S.C. Aspherical, and Nissin Di700A flash when it's necessary and edited in Photoshop.
Thanks for sharing these images and a bit of their story too.
The 2nd image down is a *very strong* portrait - both emotionally and aesthetically. The moment is of course perfect and sweet, but your processing and (whether or not it was intentional) the way the background highlights perfectly envelop them, and the natural vignette in the dark and/or sparse areas of foliage are all beautiful too. I love it all and hope you recognize it too as a real standout for your portfolio.
Thank you very much for your comment, I'm really flattered.
That photo and the fifth one are the best moments that I've captured so far, thanks to the natural affection between Elbert and Poly and the beautiful scene behind them. I've shot other series but the photos I share here always make me feel something beyond the image. That makes me love what I'm doing more and more.
Voted as featured thread. These are wonderful photos! I also really like your post processing. It was fun to see you using inexpensive and vintage lenses.
The post also attracted my attention since Elbert is from Tanzania. My wife leaves for Tanzania tomorrow to take 20 nursing students on a medical mission trip.
Actually only Samyang 135mm I can consider inexpensive, it's the bang for the buck and I really love that lens, but the rest are not really. The two 85/1.2 lenses are both around $1000 (yes, they're cheaper than EF 85/1.2L ii), and Minolta 100/2, FE 55/1.8 are $600-700. But anyway, these are among the best lenses I have and it's fun to use them.
Elbert is an open and very friendly guy so I hope your wife will have a nice time with the students over there.
Thank you Vcook. Do you have any suggestion? After reading your comment, I realized that the framing of this photo has something wrong but I couldn't figure out exactly yet. Maybe making it wider and crop a bit on the right?

Not enough space on the right, or too much on the left. Crop it so they're balanced in the frame.
