I like the crop of just the bird and the beach stones but this is a massive crop of the original image so I thought I would show both the full image and the crop since this was taken with the relatively new 100-200 at 200 and not a lot of images out there yet of this combo and I think this shows some of what it can do.
A lenskirt is an interesting idea in the event that an open door tour is not available (I did this flight with my travel companion, had I booked it myself, I would have gone with a different operator offering an open door option). I'm not sure how practical it would end up being, my primary concern would be how well the suction cups would hold given the amount of vibration on exterior panels, and I suspect that getting/framing the shot might prove to be somewhat frustrating given how quickly the aircraft changes direction/adjusts your framing for you.
For me the skirt has allowed me to forget about reflections and focus on the framing. All the flights I've done have been through glass so I've had to learn fast. This was last week down in Vegas but with my a7r2. At least I got a window seat
.....btw I'm just jealous because the one time I did that same trip I got grey skies and rain squalls....in an open door copter
^^ Nice location. Is this from Vancouver? We were there last yr, don't remember seeing this. Maybe missed it. They do seem less sharp than what I would expect from GFX.
Second Beach on the Olympic Peninsula about 4 hr drive NW of Vancouver.
Still getting a feel for sharpening these GFX files. I definitely have room to sharpen more than I did without haloing. I can push the amount up to 320 or so without halos Some folks say the GFX files are so sharp they don't need sharpening. Also I can turn on the diffraction correction but need to pull the amount down under 300 or I start to see some halo around the stack edges.
Using Capture One I have these above at approx:
Amount: 120, Radius: 1, Threshold: .5 and Noise Reduction Luminance: 20, Detail, 30, Color: 50.
The other thing I'm noticing is the jpgs at 1200 px long edge like above vs those like below at 1600 px long edge are noticeably less sharp when output from capture one. That could also be a factor. Just too few pixels.
