Hi guys! Haven't posted for a while. Here are a few pics I took in the last few months.
With the generous help of fellow FMer Keith Williamson, I fulfilled my dream to finally photograph short-eared owls. I actually flew up there twice because it was so much fun.
I was also able to meet Henrik, my good friend of many years and fellow FMer whom I admired a lot, for the first time face to face. He was kind enough to drive down from Vancouver and we had a great time catching up.
I also met fellow FMer Rex aka surgemaster in a beautiful morning. Also met many old friends and made some new friends there.
Since many outstanding shots of shorties have been posted lately, I'm posting something a bit different here, more on backlit. Hope you enjoy. All these shots were taken with a Canon 1DX Mark II, 600mm and 1.4x teleconverter.
Tin Man, these are simply gorgeous photos of both the owl species and the bobkitten (I love that you call it that btw). I have been following your escapades (funny, I first wrote escapes by mistake and thought after proofreading the post it was actually not that far off) and know just how chuffed you were to be able to capture images of the SEO and the smile that must have come across your face when seeing that little cat must have been a sight to see.
For those of you that don't follow Tin Man Lee via his newsletter you are missing out big time. It is a combination of photography, poetry, life lessons and self awareness that I do not think exists elsewhere. It is not simply a visual feast (which it is) but one that makes one think about how the pursuit of an image is related to more existential thought.
Good luck with your MRI today....as one who has had back surgery in his 20s for what seems to be a similar issue I fully understand what you are going through and empathize with your predicament.
