On my way to Iceland I had a 3-day stop-over in the Faroe Islands. Gasadalur with its spectacular mountains, the small village and a big waterfall next to the village is my favorite spot in the Faroe Islands. All images were shot with a Sony A7RII and different Zeiss lenses.
I had never before considered my Loxia 21 as a bird photography lens! Silly me not to have seen its potential....😜
Well done. I like the wider shots better than the 35mm as I think the framing is a bit tight at 35mm, but all are really good. Thx for sharing this lovely location.
We only had one day on our cruise to Iceland but I never seen that many waterfalls! We did a nice hike up one of those hills and got some great shots. So we really enjoyed your shots (which were way better than mine BTW). Thanks for posting!
Where else did you visit while your were there? I've got a week on the Faroe Islands in a couple of months and am starting to sketch out an itinerary for my time there.
PS: number one is my favourite, those colours are bold. I reckon it could work well as a square crop or 4:5 crop too (nothing wrong with your current crop though).
I'm liking the full-sun version of #3 - but the crop is way too tight on the waterfall side. Do you have this at a wider view? Just a little more room on the right so none of the waterfalls outflow is cut off would help IMHO.

Besides Gasadalur my favorite places are Saksun, Tjörnuvik, Gjógv, Funningur and the Boesadalafoss.

I completely understand your point of view and agree. The problem is: if you move to the right the rocks in foreground are getting in your view as seen in the images #1, #2 and #5. In my opinion the only solution was to either crop/compose tight or use a much wider FOV and integrate the rocks as part of the foreground composition, like in image #1. Or use a drone or helicopter for a different shooting position (but then you can't use 30 sec. exposure time).
However I couldn't bring myself to go to the Faroes due to their annual dolphin slaughter. Blacklisted for me. As are Malta and Cyprus for the millions of songbirds they 'harvest' every year with their 'glue-on-a stick' trapping.
With the popularity of Iceland, I have been considering this as an alternative location. Seems like a cross between Iceland and the Isle of Skye.
Thanks! It's a nice place but both Iceland and the Isle of Skye are more spectacular. The big advantage of the Faroe Islands is it's less known and therefore less crowded.

Beautiful, every single one is amazing.
I visited the Faroe Island three times and never had the opportunity to visit Gasaladur because of the weather.
I love the Faroe Island not only for the beautiful and unique lanscape but for the people so kind and friendly.
You did an amazing job and I can't wait for my next trip there.
Marcelo
Thanks Marcelo! Even in bad weather Gasadalur is worth a visit. And since they built the tunnel a couple of years ago between the islands of Streymoy and Vágar it is much easier to get there.
