My best friend from middle school does henna at the renaissance festival that is in town this month. I was able to shoot her and her adorable kids in the park near my house.
Some really nice work and just a few suggestions more than corrections. We all view the world in different ways.
#1 - Darken the upper right section a bit more. A bit too bright.
#2 - Might have benefitted from some directional light rather than flat, on-axis lighting. There's no dimension in her face. Granted, she can be flat lit, but having some featues on her face would be more interesting.
#3 - Tone down the bright spots in the background. They distract from the face. In general, alwasy look for bright spots in the background that distract the eyes from the subject.
#3 - I also might have considered B&W with a bit more contrast for this since the mood is reflective.
#6 - Conversely, I would have kept this in color because of the light mood.
Hope I wasn't too brutal. In general a really, really nice series with excellent color, environment, poses, expressions. Well done!
I like this B&W a lot! Personal preference, I know, but it better reflects her mood. To me the focus is on the expression first and then the setting. Tone down the bright spots a bit and it's a real winner. Jealous of this one! (lol)
Again it is a personal preference thing, but the color version of #3 is amazing. There are too many things that are distracting from the little girl in the BW version. Her clothes are the same color as the tree branches and much of the background. So the white highlights in the background stand out strongly. Her hair does stand out, but her face is lost in shadow. In the color version I have none of those complaints.
