p.1 #1 · Joshua Tree Lightning Storm (Edit: added old image from same evening)
These images are from a few years back during a storm that I was lucky enough to witness at Joshua Tree NP. The first I recently got around to processing and the second I had previously posted but I felt it needed a revisit. Both are from a single-image capture. Feel free to let me know what you think.
*** Edit: 3rd image added ***
This one from the same evening was also previously posted but it may interest some. The lightning got a little too close for comfort on this one.

The second image would have benefited from a touch of flash on the trees in the foreground on the right. It would have improved the contrast and provided greater separation from the background.

Loving the lightning! Great job on these! I just moved to lightning alley in Florida and bought a second lightning trigger. These types of shots inspire me to get rolling!

Thank you very much everyone for your thoughts on the images.

While the second is the way we like to compose landscapes I feel more exposed to the storm in the first making it my pick Tuan. It is a great image

I see what you mean with the first showing the lightning in much closer detail.

I think I know what you mean, though I rarely use artificial lighting for landscapes.

Hey Tuan,
These are cool! We don't see too many photos of lightning from Joshua Tree. Nice work with both.

I don't get to capture lightning too often and I felt really lucky to be able to do so in JT.

Like them both, but prefer the first. It feels more ominous because it has a sense of being closer to the viewer.
Yes, definitely feels more ominous with the lightning taking up so much of the frame in the first.

Great set! I really like the way you composed the second. Amazing conditions!
Glad you like the comp. I remember racing around trying to find something that would work well, while the lightning storm was raging in the distance.

Congratulations Tuan!
I remember lots of lightning one of the times I was in Florida and have a feeling your lightning trigger is going to get a lot of use. I haven't splurged for one yet since I don't hunt them down like you do.
