p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · S-Curve in Utah

The other night I got out for my first mini hike since having knee surgery and went up to this location. The sunset was rather unspectacular but as it got darker the clouds started to get illuminated by the city lights just at the end of the canyon. The colors of the clouds started to take on a nuclear shade of orange that I felt paired well with light trails from traffic. C&C is accepted and appreciated.

Thanks for looking

Very nice! The car lights look complimentary to the sky. Well done.

Very nice. Perfect lighting and exposure. Looks like Big Cottonwood Canyon in the vicinity of Hidden Falls??

Thanks! I am not exactly sure where hidden falls is but basically the trailhead to Lake Blanche and Sundial Peak.

Beautiful light and well processed (not to mention the timing to get the car lights just right!). Just wondering if you tried a version with the truck cloned out?

Yup, Hidden Falls is a few hundred yards from the Lake Blanche trailhead. It has been 10 years since I was up the canyon but Hidden Falls was worth the stop.

Hi Brockslinger. This image is really great. I like what you've done and they high perspective you've climbed to in order to capture this wonderful curve.
I also checked out your website and I like your work. Lots to enjoy in Utah.

Gordon

Great shot. To me, this represents a fusion of mother nature and man made technology. They complement each other in this shot. Nicely done!

Thanks Todd! It took a while up there to get a decent amount of traffic but consequently the light pollution illuminating the clouds only got better during that time. I haven't yet had the time to sit down and clone out the truck but it is something I plan to do.

Thanks Mark! The initial edits to this were used with a "sony import" setting modeled after your ultimate lightroom raw teachings. Its really helped get my photos to a great starting point to work from.

Hi Gordon - Thanks for the reply. It was a memorable image to make and luckily its only 15 min from my house so I will definitely be back. Utah does have some ultra amazing things to enjoy - if only the state representatives wanted to keep these lands public for everyone to enjoy.

Hi Ed - thanks for the good words! It's humbling to have an injury but the rehab has been going well and its been refreshing to get back out there

Hey Jim - Do you think there is too many light trails? I found the density of the trails to increase the color and match the sky better than other images I have from here with only 1 or 2 cars.
