p.1 #1 · Sandpipers

Made a visit to Jones Beach yesterday and found a lot of sandpipers near the west end seawall as they were using it for shelter from the cold wind. When I got down on my belly to take there photos I was also sheltered and felt great as I had quickly become used to Florida. The first photo is of a sanderling and the others of dunlin.

Morris, those are superb images! The low position gives a very pleasing perspective. I love No. 6-9 the most and to me, No. 7 is absolutely gorgeous.

I lost count of the ones I really liked so I'll just give you
I have 1 shot of the same thing...actually I have a shot of you on your belly shooting the sandpipers
It was a fun day despite it being owlless....I enjoyed the 30mph wind, well maybe enjoyed is not the right word....the right word is not one I share in mixed company.

Thank you Joshua,
I'd noticed something was missing from many of my pictures before going away and I realized that I was not getting down as low as I could. I'm glad you enjoyed these

Thank you Nigil,
10 gives a feel for the density, what I did not show was a photo of the whole colony

That 30 MPH wind was quite a reintroduction to being back in NYC. I'm glad you enjoyed them and I understand that forgetting how to count is is a symptom of seeing yellow eyes in your dreams

Very well done Morris, love this low angle of these shots. Shooting from these low angles sure give a different perspective to the image, again very good.

My trouble with low angles is not so much getting down, but getting up. Nice job; #9.

I am sure your were covered in sand after getting these shots. The low angle makes them much better.

Nice low angles on these cute little puffballs, Morris. I like the subject isolation with DOF on a few of them. Very enjoyable set.
