Sprouts are difficult to grow. Home gardeners only have certain varieties available. The home varieties are _not_ uniform for a reason. Home varieties can be harvested for months. I have heard of people harvesting sprouts off the same plant for 6 months.
I grew Brussel sprouts several years ago but the weather here gets too hot too fast in the spring. Before you know it, the sprouts are bitter and the plant is bolting!
