Artistically, Baffin Island is like photographers Mecca. The diversity of its landscape is so substantial that there is always something grand to photograph. And then, there is, of course, its exceptional light, the light unseen anywhere else. This combination of light and dramatic landscape can make you feel as if you were lost, but somehow still on your way to Mordor. The place is desolated, a sort of a perfect asylum for soul seekers and alike, yet full of unusual natural powers.
This photo here could be one of the most striking examples of the inspiring force that light has in the act of image creation. The natural shape of the valley creates the path for the light and surrounding peaks that guard it bring darkness.
That afternoon we had the privilege to witness this game of light and shadows from the first row. To isolate this scene I used a longer lens and stitched 7 images to get this panoramic view.
Boring! Another amazing image from Artur! . What would really shake things up and get our attention if you posted a really crappy image to make the rest of us feel better!
All jokes aside, this may be one of my favourite images of yours and you have posted a lot of spectacular images!!!!
Going pano here is absolutely the way to go with this one. And I'm super happy this isn't a crop from a single image. I'm guessing a vertical 35mm stitch or close to it. Processing is stellar.....keep these amazing images coming!!!!
Thanks a lot everyone. I really appreciate all comments.
Yes, I would love to print it very large. The file is super clean with almost 150 megapixels of information.
This is stitch of 7 vertical shots taken with 70-200mm @110mm ( horizontally it covers around 50mm)
To give you more perspective the distant mountains were about 10 kilometers away from where I was shooting. The tallest peaks in the background are around 1800 meters and valley bottom is at 200 meters.
