Thank you very much for your kind comments. (By the way, the Hooded Merganser performed vigorous "shake and roll" routine to de-claw the crayfish prior to swallowing it, tail first.)

Very cool images. The color of the crayfish adds such a "pop" to the image with the black and white merganser.

Marcy45 - indeed hooded mergansers do like crayfish. I saw one consumed four crayfishes in a very short time.

Morris - yes it was tough to photograph the male hooded merganser in the harsh side lighting. But the story was too good to miss. Thanks -
