Wow, what an amazing sequence! I have observed GBH's for several years but never seen anything like this. It looks like something out of a Godzilla movie.

What an INCREDIBLE series; it was well worth the load time for my slow internet connection. High drama (and tough light) on a good day but those reflections perfectly compliment the edge-of-my-seat drama! Awesome shooting; with all the challenges, details of the struggle are right there. I've never seen this kind of interaction with herons; truly incredible captures!

An excellent series of images. These are fascinating and I would imagine rare.
Hopefully you will submit them to a publication for the world to see. I have viewed them several time and am fascinated by what you have captured. Sorry about the double reply.

Just when you think that great blue herons have been photographed to death and anything shot an exercise in redundancy, you produce an amazing piece of natural history that has it all... the work is dramatic, tells a story and wonderfully photographed.
