I am considering wedding photography again. I have done weddings (12 or so) in the past (1980's) but have been shooting nature and wildlife since then. I will use digital equipment as that is all I have done for the past 3 years. My question is simply, can anyone offer advice on quality instructional video (actual weddings) that I can purchase to help bring me up to speed with current techniques? I appreciate any help in this area. I also plan to attend a few seminars if possible in the near future.
I've been shooting weddings since 1990 and things have changed even since then! I congratulate you in coming back to weddings.
I recently ordered a 6 disc set of DVD's on wedding photography from http://photovisionvideo.com and I'm very pleased with them. The cost was $99 for the set. Each disc has a couple of hours each and it is actual weddings shot from guys like Gary Fong, Ed Pierce, Bleu & Alison Cotton, etc.
It's very informative and I'd recommend this set to anyone who's interested in shooting weddings. You'll get insight on how the professional PJ shooters do it as well as how traditional wedding photographers pose their subjects.
Can't say enough good about this DVD series! The only drawback is the case the DVD's come in hold the discs so tight that it was near impossible to get the discs out of the case without putting a slight crack in the hole area of the discs, so be careful as you remove them. Once you do, put them in another case ASAP and don't try to reuse the case they come in!
I'm going to contact Photovision and let them know of this problem. Maybe they'll send me a couple of replacement discs for my damaged set.
Let us know if you decide to order the discs! Good luck!
That is a very good set. Also I will be having a very complete set coming out in a few months that has some of the same people on it along with myself. It will be a bit more on the advanced end and will be a 2 DVD set.
Ed Pierce really did a great job with those and I think they would be a very good starting point.
I'll keep you posted when we finish production on the new one. I will say this, its going to blow people away!!
