First let me say thank you very much to everyone who has taken time to comment in their very busy lives. I really appreciate it.
Many of you have commented about cropping some of the lower foreground. I debated, and decided to keep it. I agree it could omit some of the distracting elements, but, I also believe that keeping the foreground creates a better balance and tension with the spacing. Also holding some "near" element placing. Maybe both would work equally. Because I typically print quite big, keeping more info, and having a standard aspects usually works better for picture framing. Thanks again everyone.

That's just flat out beautiful Matt!
The U.P. is one of my two favorite locations to shoot waterfalls in the USA, the other being the mountains of Arkansas.

John, UP is truly a magical place. I've heard the Coumbia River Gorge and Olympic NP areas are even more dense with waterfalls. But, what sets this area apart is the wonderful color changes we get. Thanks for the kind words.

Wonferful shot.
When was this taken? Curious if colors are still good in UP

Last week. I actually had planned to go the week before that, but, the color was delayed a bit more than I had expected. Postponing seemed to work well for the colors.
Unfortunately, many of the coral red maple leaves came and went much quicker than the rest of the deciduous foliage this season.

Far better color than when we were there last week + we didn't have the side falls. Nice work on this, Matt.
Thanks, the day before the area received a bunch of rain, creating some wonderful extra flow-age in the area!
It's a pretty great image. I wouldn't crop anything from the foreground as I also think it adds balance, especially with the two trees on the left side of the image. My only "complaint" is the glow. The place looks like it has enough of a magical aura on on its own, so no need to add anything .
I too was at Rock River Falls a week ago.
The colors were just starting for me so you hit it at peak, the pond is much larger than when I was there, which was later in the afternoon on the 9th and I know much of the U.P. had 4" of rain in one day last week, I bet all the falls were really going.
I saw a video of Munisng Falls really roaring.

Anyway, spectacular!
Hi Mike,
Yeah, the rain was quite intense the days before. Made for some great flow-age in all the waterfalls.
In fact, Prior to my exposures, I was grabbing handfuls of leaves and throwing them into the pool, hoping they would create more swirls / eddys in the shot. I also shot memorial falls ( and a dozen others ) in Municing. The heavy rains carried even more debris to the bottom of the falls. It needs a good "cleaning".
What a incredible shot.
I was in Grand Marais, and Munising this past weekend. My first trip to Pictured Rocks. My wife and I took one of the boat cruises along the shore. Just WOW I am still blown away by the beauty of the area.

Jeff
Pictured rocks is truly amazing to behold. The coastline, forests, dunes, and waterfalls, so much to see and experience.
Thanks for the kind words.
Whoa, thanks everyone for commenting and the votes. Really appreciate it. This area isn't hard to photograph, just putting yourself in front of it is the challenge. It's called Rock River Falls, and I recommend checking out sometime. 2nd - 3rd week of October seems to be peak color, and with some luck, you'll have some rain prior to get the river flowing real good. Thanks again.
