I wonder if somebody who tried the Proxar 1m. filter with the ZM25 or any other RF glass using this filter, owns a common +1 diopter (1m) close-up lens of a reputed manufacturer ( B+W, Heliopan, Hoya .. ) and, if so, is able to compare the results of both filters.
AFAIK all these lenses are basically meniscus. There’s no particular reason why the Proxar should perform better than the others, regarding astigmatism correction (provided they’re of good quality). A normal close-up filter comes with a standard threaded mount directly adaptable to our main lens. No need to disassemble the glass from the mount and install step-up + step-down rings. No risk of decentering, either, In top of that, they’re readily available at every good photo dealer. All the Proxars 1m are vintage articles and some of them might be in less than optimal condition.
Just saying .. but if, for instance, a +1 diopt B+W filter works as well as the Proxar, it would save time, hassle and a bit of money to everybody willing to do this mod.
Thanks, guys, this is just what I have been looking for. How difficult is it to get the PCX filter for the ZM 35/1.4 in the U.S? Also, I presume that a 52mm lens hood can be attached to the 55-52 step-down ring.
Please excuse me for not having read through all 35 pages of this thread.

I have no affiliation with optosigma but that's the distributor in the US.

Actually, I just found the page on the OptoSigma website for ordering the PCX-SLB-50-5000 lens. Is that the one that I need? Delivery time is 2-5 weeks.

There are indeed other PCX options out there, but beware of:
- AR Coatings
- Edge thickness to make sure you can put it in an adapter (3mm edge thickness in this case)
That being said - the OptoSigma looks identical to the Laser2000 offering.
I found other equivalent lenses, but they were thicker or didn't quite have the required AR coatings.

What do you mean by beware of AR coatings? I thought they were desirable.
In any event, the OptoSigma lens mentioned above is the specific one recommended by Bastian in his review article, so I assume that it is OK for the ZM 35/1.4. If anyone disagrees, please say so.
Laser2000 is just a distributor for Opto Sigma lenses (they all are manufactured in Japan it seems).
And yes, the "Opto Sigma SLB-50-5000PM" is the way to go with the ZM 35mm 1.4.
I tried a similar lens from another manufacturer in Lithuania but can't recommend that one.

Thanks, Bastian. BTW how do you remove the glass from the 52mm UV filter without damaging the metal ring?

Fascinating thread guys! I just took the plunge on this as well with the ZM25 thanks to Guy's samples. Fred thanks for the link to the Proxar for sale at Keh, I just ordered it.
Guy, can you confirm the stepup-stepdown rigs you used with the ZM25? Based on what you wrote earlier in the thread I think you are using a 46-55 steup and a 55-52 stepdown ring combination. Can you confirm this?
That's a great summary, Bastian - it's much easier having all of that information in one place. I've finally tracked down a source in Australia that will arrange direct shipping to NZ of a 5m Optosigma for my ZM 35, so will order today.
I am going 46-55 than 55-52 step down than a 52 retaining ring. Buy a spanar wrench too
I do have a 46-52 coming to try but not sure the lens will fit in it. Than I would just add a 52 retaining ring. Again not sure it will work

Yes, once you filled that out, Brad will contact you.
I was just trying to save you some time.
