Or even a series of still images showing the steps
I took some images with my phone when I opened the ZM 35. I will post it shortly. However, this is the easiest lens to adjust.
All you need to do is remove the rear bayonet (4 screws) to get access to the rear shims. Then, remove a couple shims depending on your adapter. It takes about 1 minute. Do not mess with the internal (front) shims. It's totally reversible process.
Yea I thought about this. What I'm wondering is which one will let me add more empty filters for a hood. I think it be the same but worth 8 bucks to try it. Might look better worst case

You could probably do 46-52, add an empty 52mm, place the lens inside and then add the retaining 52mm ring.

Guy,
I think the filter solution that will give more space (threads) for a threaded hood is the 46-55, 55-52 but that depends on the height of the 55-52 step down ring as they vary brand to brand.
Very well could be I ordered one just to see what happens with a 46-52. For the 25mm especially a hood will be very short why I was using just a filter ring, not sure it can get much bigger
So I mentioned this to Fred in Private. I thought I'd bring it up. On the Hawks adapter there is a adjustment track for setting the infinity on the adapter . It's let's say 3/8 of a inch of adjustment and on the infinity side if we drilled out a little more room than I think the mount will retract slightly more which would get us past infinity and in that case we might not have to take shims out on the lens. If owners of the Hawk adapter can take a look at it and see what I'm talking about and comment. I actually think it would work. So basically with a dremel just expand that slot towards the infinity side. It's made of aluminum. All we need is maybe a 1/16 of a inch longer, it just might work. I do think the mount itself wil retract more into the housing

Excellent. I wish you could see all the posts of a thread in one long window so it would be easier to go back and see/find this stuff!
We almost need a summary like the excellent one that Genji did for the TAP. I'm looking to order a filter for my 35/1.4, but am also exploring options for a shortened dedicated adapter, rather than taking out shims. I'd prefer to retain ease of use without the filter for trips where I'm after a minimal gear setup.

Taking out shims will only let you focus beyond infinity without the filter. MFD will hardly be affected, so there is really no problem doing so, unless you actually use the hard infinity stop.

Okay update with the 25mm ZM. With either the Hawks or the cheap Fotosy adapter with regard to shims. I have in the front the silver shim the 2 gold and brass are out. On the rear element shim I have the gold in there.
So front silver
rear element gold everything else should be out.
This gives me infinity at the hard stop precisely
Now waiting on the sun.
Freds rain drops in California winds up here in Arizona so he better shut off the damn faucet. Im about to get the raft out.
But then, you can adjust the shims to make a hard stop "with" the front-lens. That's what I did and it works great.
Yes, without the front-lens, your infinity will be around 5m but I see no reason to remove the front-lens from this lens on the A7 series.
From what i can tell with the ZM 25 the front lens will not be coming off anytime soon. Even at 2.8 the corners looks 100 percent better. But i need to test it for sure

We are getting some winds too.
BTW: On the Hawks idea to retract it further in hopes to pass infinity even more... I don't think it's possible.
I removed the adjustment screws and try to move the ring even further (retracting the helicoid as much as possible). It does not go any further than the screw holes already in place. It looks like the maximum retraction of the infinity adjustment is already at its max.
I did the same bud it gets to about half way into the screw holes ever so slightly but not enough to eliminate the shim removal. Glad you checked it out too. It was a good thought but I say we are back to shims. I tried.

Probably sample variation. If yours go beyond that much, it may be worth it.
TAP goes much further than the Hawks btw. (when using the infinity parking setting)
