Yes - the 135 should fit either mounted or lying flat on the bottom.
The padding is quite good, and I usually have some spare clothes underneath if I’m worried about dropping my backpack (which I have done a few times, because I’m clumsy).
I had the Batis 135 2.8 a few years ago for a short period of time. I didn't really use it often (almost an Euphemism ). Yesterday, I copied Fred's behavior and ordered it again. Before doing so, I searched the few photos I took back then when I first owned it. I never developed those pictures (at least most of the 20 I had ).
So here are three of them. I hope, my new Batis 135 will arrive soon Somehow, it's fun.
After being away from Sony's new tech for a few years I purchased an a7cR. The last Sony body I owned was the a7Riii. I really really like the a7cR and LOVE the new Ai features, the menu system and sensor, so I bought an a7RV as my main Camera.
8 stops of in body IS...OMG, among so many other conveniences the added IS is a game changer. I'm sure everyone knows it already, but it's new to me. 3rd day with the a7R5 and it's still blowing me away.
1.3 seconds handheld with my Batis 25, no need for a tripod at night, or with an ND on the trail.
I love that all my Batis lenses work perfectly on the new bodies, the AF feels ideal, not slow as I thought they might compared to the new G's and GM's.

Excellent capture - and 1.3s is much more than I thought possible handheld.
Here's another with the Batis 25 @ ƒ/2.5: Dartmoor on a good day in February:
