Thank you Jim.As I did say,I don't like this focal length much. But I'm slowly getting used to it.Batis 40/2 IQ and versatility helps a lot.
I agree -- 40mm is one of my least used focal lengths. The CV 40/1.2E has turned me around quite a bit, but still find it not quite wide enough. 35mm is much easier, generally speaking. And when it isn't, it is easier to combine two images into a composite. The Batis 40 has the impressive Zeiss colors and contrast, and I love that it is practically a macro lens. I also have the Canon EF 40/2.8 STM pancake, and it is surprisingly good too, at a bargain price. But no macro.
I am so impressed with the Batis 18, that I may have to get the 25 and 40, just to have a Batis set. Great spacing between focal lengths!

I much prefer 35 myself but I can see how 40 represents better spacing to the 25.
They focus/aperture issues have kept my away from the 40.

I have the 25 and the 85.
On the plus side for the CV 40E: it is an absolute great lens. (As is the Batis 40!)
I can only hope CV comes out with a 28 to match the image quality of the 40. No other maker than Sigma had taken that focal length seriously -- but the Sigma is a little too big and heavy for me.
@Schwarzlicht - Stefan, your wonderful images keep this thread alive! Vielen Dank!
