Did a fall fashion shoot for a couple of magazines around my studio and at a nearby park. Shot in the shade around my studio until the golden hour light kicked in. Comments always welcome.
The colors and lighting just boom off the images. In that respect they look flawless to me; however, labeling these as "fashion" is a bit of a stretch for me.
This looks like more of a very well done "senior shoot".
You do great work, and i'm probably being a stickler with what you're describing as a "fashion" shoot.
Thanks for the compliments. I label them as fashion as they were shot for a fashion feature for a magazine. The art directors collaborated with me on art direction with each shot. They do clearly look a lot like my senior photography shoot but I had a lot more help with these than I ever do with my senior shoots.
In terms of composition and presentation, these images boom with color and have that editorial look and color for magazines. The only thing lacking here is capturing that fashion attitude, and getting the models into more edgy poses. It's different than traditional portraiture, but with practice it will come. Something that seems to help me get that edgy look, is letting the model know how good they are doing and being excited about it. Confidence and comfort comes a long way with getting the attitude or mood you want to accomplish.
Other than that ramble I just did, I love everything else you've accomplished here. Good job
I thought the hand positions in #1 were fine. I think I agree that the right hand in #5 is awkward. Possibly curled too tightly?
Hard pressed to pick a favorite but probably #1 and #4.
As to "fashion" one comment I read in a book that made a peculiar sort of sense to me is that the reason fashion photos tend to be "strange" is deliberate. The idea is to make the picture deliberately "odd" in such a fashion that you look at the clothes not the model.
In that sense, maybe you "failed" because the model looks normal and comfortable. Nonetheless, I'm not sure that fashion photography is fully "sane".

Completely agree. +1 !
I know it is "technically" fashion because of the client, but the wardrobe depicted in these images is pretty conservative. Pink Floyd tank top ??
The photos are nice and well done. A little bright and saturated for my personal taste. I have to agree with the other sentiments that these probably would not be considered fashion. The clothes seem dated and the outfits are poorly done. Not really the job of the photographer if they did indeed have a wardrobe stylist put this together. I certainly don't mean to pile on to the other comments also. Just saying that I agree with them.
Though I agree these are pretty far from fashion, I will take these over the fake gradient background, fake bokeh and fake everything else shots all day long that seem to be trending here.
