So far I've had this happen twice. Not when shooting but once I just picked it up and the viewfinder was frozen. Nothing worked until I pulled out the battery. The other time was when I put a battery in it. I think I left the camera on and it froze. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed in FW.
when using a non 's' fuji battery ie the new one that comes with the xt2 and shooting in busy bursts the battery can heat up, lose power output and the camera freezes up. The YouTube 'angry photographer' has a long winded 19 minute video explaining this but no real extra detail. Are you using a new battery with 's' at the end of the name? It's got 4 contacts instead of 3 and handles heat better apparently
Mine froze once as well , I don't remember what I was doing but I also had to remove the battery for it to reset. That was the first day, hasn't happened since. It was frozen with the lcd still on.
Just spoke to Fuji and the guy I spoke to was pretty knowledgable. He said he already gotten 3 calls in regards to this and Fuji engineers are aware of the issue and working on a FW fix.
MY XT2 seems to only freeze in the wifi menu, when searching for a network in the pc transfer menu it has frozen 100% of the time. No matter what I do it freezes even with the sd card removed, letting the battery sit with a full charge in the camera for 24 hours did nothing (xpro2 early fix). I have contacted fuji but have yet to hear back. I assume it is FW related, fingers crossed.
Anyone else with this continuing problem of X-T2 freezing. Last night it was the second time my X-T2 froze. EVF stays on with the last picture I took and the flashing light writing to the card stays on blinking. The camera is no response till I remove the battery. Very annoying. Never had this problem with my X-T1.
It happened to me on both xt2 bodies. I turned eye/face detection off and that freezin has not happened since. So it must have been what causes it in my case.

Same thing here, I turned on the face/eye af and it froze tonight like three times in 5 minutes.
I stopped using it then, but will try again with that feature off.
I called Fuji support yesterday and they recommend I sent in my X-T2 for them to take a look. I asked about the FW update and they said they were not aware that update would fix the freezing.
