p.1 #1 · Sundial Peak and Lake Blanche . . . and a memory
For my first date (a blind date at that) with my wife 23 years ago, we hiked up to Lake Blanche in the Wasatch Mountains. Had a great time, didn't have a camera back then, and kept dating her. We married, moved to North Carolina for a time and then and settled in southern Utah.
We had the opportunity to visit and stay in the Cottonwood Canyons 2 weeks ago and I thought it'd be great to recreate our first date, hiking up to Lake Blanche again. So we did it. Hiking at age 46 is much harder than at age 23. The 2,700 foot elevation gain was a non-factor in my youth but we were huffing and puffing now as middle-aged plodders. We made it, just in time for sunset (which surpassed my expectations). Wow, it was beautiful. This is a gorgeous location. I appreciate it so much more as a photographer now.

Gordon - That's a gorgeous capture and I love how you framed the mountain reflection in-between the grass. I would hang this one on your wall - especially with the meaning behind it! And oh - to be 46 again!

46 feels 46. I'm making my bucket list for things to do while still hanging on by a thread to the illusion of youth.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks gentlemen. The photos we take often have a story, meaning or memory behind them. I catalogue my life with the photos I've taken and this one is a special one for the reasons mentioned above. I suspect many of us do this.
