Ha! Depends how you think of it. Is it part of a set of modern Zeiss lenses you want it to blend in with? Get black. Or do you think of as retro fun; the 1937 sonnar reborn? Get silver. I got silver.

Looks like Zeiss has a $125 rebate right now. What is the color of choice silver or black?
I have some older LTM lenses from the 50s that are chrome, really liked the look of them. The Sonnar is a matte silver wasn't sure that I wanted to go with that colour initially but now it's kind of grown on me.
I used not believe that differences in the look (as against the amount) of the bokeh could make a difference to be three dimensional an image looked. But these images really show it. Super smooth bokeh which for some purposes is great - can look like a flat smooth backdrop. But the c-sonnar makes the bokeh look somehow like space the subject is embedded in. Of course I could be kidding me myself, and you can't do these tests blind because the c-sonnar look is so distinctive, but that's really how it seems....

Fred, these shots are just awesome ! What a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing
Thank you! I thought these would show how the lens renders close and mid-distance for those thinking about getting it.
All images taken with the help of TAP.
I am embarrassed to say that I took over 700 images during this trip. I mainly brought 3 lenses (ZM 50C, ZM 35/1.4 and Leica 90/2.5) There were some landscapes as well (with the ZM 35) and about a third of them was from my Ricoh GR at the beach.
The good part is new version 4 for our TAP really has opened the door AF wise to these fine Lenses. I love my ZM 35 and 85 and this 50 is taunting me badly to get. Fred you shoot the ZM 35 love to see more samples in this environment as well.

I have many ZM 35 pictures but didn't post it here because this thread was about the Sonnar.
I will post some on your ZM 35/1.4 testing thread later on.

Version 4 was a huge AF upgrade for this adapter. IMO, it's a must have for these lenses since you can still use MF when desired.
I really appreciate these images. When the M9 came out and I was lugging around my 5DII, I always imagined how slick it would be to travel with one and a few lovely, small lenses. With the A7RII and the totally unexpected surprise of the TAP, my pick for a few of these lenses so far has been Loxia 21 2.8, ZM 35 1.4, and as for the 50, I'm a bit up in the air. These ZM 50 1.5 images are really gorgeous. I have to put my new Summicron R E55 through its paces (I just had to see what the Leica fuss was about) and if after a while I am left feeling dissatisfied, this the C Sonnar looks like a great option. I have a big, east facing, roughly floor to ceiling window in my living room and took a few casual portraits of my wife with the ZE 50 1.4, FE 55, and the Summicron all at F2. Liked the Summicron the most by far. Easily sharp enough, and it just had this classic beauty to it, lovely color, great contrast and dimension without being over the top. Again, If I don't feel this way in more diverse circumstances, the ZM 50 1.5 will be the first place I look. Thanks!

That be great Fred whenever you get the chance. They seem very similar to each other
