The black and white is absolutely stunning. I like the way the light and the f 2.8 soften her face and give her a glow. #1 is just a bit too sharp for my taste and her eyes seem too clear. I would like to see the first at f 2.8.
Thanks for your feedback! I had not shot the first one at f 2.8. I totally understand what you are saying but as you had mentioned, it is a matter of taste. I use shallow depth of field very sparingly. I like to use lighting to sell the depth by sculpting out the shapes on a face and I really enjoy seeing some skin texture. It makes the image feel tangible, almost like the person is there right in front of you.

I prefer the first one to the second one. Slightly turned head position is nice. In the second one the model's neck is extended a tad too much forward, IMO.
I completely agree. Something about that second shot was making me feel uneasy about it. Thanks for helping out and pointing that issue about the neck being extended a tad too much. Plus I also feel that the eye on camera-left has the pupil almost touching the bridge of the nose, makes her look a bit squinty! I definitely feel the first one is the keeper here.

These are both really great! #1 is pretty much perfect. Lovely.
Thank you so much.
