Damien Lovegrove has some really beautiful fullsize images. I love the b&w.

I dig that. Know what this thread really makes me appreciate? The RX1 series. Hopefully Sony downer make it bigger in any way in upcoming models...

I'll wait for a fixed lens lower $ version - a modern Ga645Zi please.

I'm probably just not well caffeinated enough at the moment, but with the crop sensor (0.787 compared to 645 film, right?) what's the equivalent depth of field? i.e. the 63/2.8 would look like a 50/2.2? 2.0?

Multiply (or divide) by the factor.....

63mm 2.8 is close to a 49mm at f 2.2 (2.18)

The lenses aren't grossly expensive either which is kind of shocking

Whenever they release the 23mm or wider, I'll jump in. The zoom is very well priced. I wonder how good it's going to be.

Here is a review/overview:

According to Jonas, the 120/4 macro is the sharpest of the bunch.

yep agree... that's about 18mm FF equivalent. Hopefully there's a way to adapt the Canon TSes.

I am very impressed. Nice work Fuji! The first round of lenses doesn't interest me, but 90% of my shooting is covered by 21, 35 and 85mm primes, so the second batch of lenses is the set for me. I love taking 20-30% of this gear in a year or two and that's some seriously sweet IQ at that price point.

I am extremely curious about DR and color. If the GFX hits 16 stops I am going to loose it.

And I love how much pressure this puts in FF--not for AF high performance cameras, but the portrait, landscape, studio, urban and other areas will love this.

Since there's been so much talk and confusion about crop factors I spent the last week in anticipation of the announcement building a little PHP calculator that will do all this work for you.

I love the look and feel of the OOC Jpegs but I am looking forward to the RAW images and really see what the GFX can do. Damien's shots are always excellent and the look of the B&W's remind me of the bygone large format Hollywood images.

For me the GFX and just the 63mm would be great initially, same as Damien, but I will wait for a while.

well, FF 35mm would be a 1.22 crop from this sensor. So the lens is like a 52mm. In terms of DoF, 1.6x APC was like 1 stop of DoF loss so FF compared to this would probably be 1/3 or 1/2 a stop so it's like a 52mm f2.3ish lens.

Chris

Because this camera has a different aspect ration 4:3 than 35mm FF which is 3:2 the crop factor depends on the aspect ratio to which you want to print/output. For aspect ratios of 4:3 and squarer (4:3; 4:5; 1:1) the crop factor is .727 for skinnier rectangle (3:2; 16:9) the crop factor is .818. The .787 crop factor is using the diagonal but would give you images with different aspect ratios, so in my view kind of comparing apples to oranges a bit. For depth of field squarer crops the miniMF sensor will have almost a full stop (.9 of a stop) less depth of field at the same aperture. For skinnier rectangular crops the miniMF will have almost exactly a half of stop less depth of field at the same aperture. So, the 63mm f/2.8 will have about the same field of view as a 46mm (let's round in the wrong direction and say 45) on FF 35mm and have the depth of field of about an f/2.1 lens on FF 35mm (we could really say a lot like a 45mm f/2). For skinnier crops it will have about the same field of view as a 52mm lens on FF 35mm (which is the same as many 50mm lenses) and have similar depth of field as an f/2.4 aperture lens on FF 35mm (so we could say a lot like a 50mm f/2.4). So, it is a normal lens with some but not a lot of shallow depth of field capabilities.

Fred you could get the camera the H lens adapter and the Hassy HCD 24 f/4.8. If you get the camera and the adapter I will loan you the lens if you like. I think the H lens looks awfully good, but it is pricey. I think the 23mm will be too, however.

Those are really not flattering photos for the camera. The tonality is pretty bad: blown highlights, blotchy mid-shadow transitions, and harsh highlight rolloffs. The files I've seen from the Hassy 50MP cameras have looked considerably better even at higher ISOs. I can only hope it's the preproduction OOC JPEGs that are causing this.

Are you sure it's not your monitor? I don't see any blown highlights at all.

I'm not sure the H adapter is what we think it is, the press materials say it's for the GX645AF was that the same lenses as the Hasselblad H system?

Yes that is the same as the Hassy H mount. Fuji just released the lenses in Japan as Fuji GX645AF mount.

Fuji made the H1 and its lenses and the GX645AF was the version sold in Japan.

Question, can we assume that Phase One will not support or allow processing of the files from this camera as they do with Hasselblad and the Pentax MF? That would be a pivotal area of consideration for our studio.

Those images look fine on 5k iMac, nothing wrong with them. They are just JPGs, it's hard to judge anything from such a small web files. If someone have claimed they were taken with 'just' Nikon D810 or even Canon 5D3 that would be believable. There is nothing really special about them. You would need to see some full colour landscape image printed on 5 metres wall to see strength of this 50MP MF sensor.
