My dad is 61 and surfs during great white shark warnings. He's an awesome guy, and I was able to get some photos of him surfing this past weekend both on my 5Ds, 1DX Mark II and drone.

Thanks! Yeah it really is eye opening to see new angles. The water was super dark that day, but flying above it, it actually looked much more transparent. Cool stuff!

Very nice set! Props to your dad for getting out there and doing it. I sailed Hobie 16 and 18's until a few years ago when I had just worn them out.

Very cool. The overcast day gives a sense of calm to the photos. Love the drone shots!

Haha yeah I didn't know he didn't have a leash on until I was following the surfboard with the drone, and he wasn't on it.

I think it's kelp. There was an even bigger one in another shot that I didn't post. Crazy big!

You might consider using a polarizing filter on the drone and DSLRs if you aren't already.

If there's a Great White Shark warning sign on the beach I'd get a shot of him and his board next to it. You're dad is a brave man.

Yeah even though that day was pretty grey, I used a 2 stop Polor ND Filter on the drone. I liked the result.

And the great white shark warning was last year. I wasn't there to capture it, but they still went surfing. Crazy!
