I got it here:

http://www.saycheesebackgrounds.com/

They offer 2 10x20 backdrops for less than $200. They are custom painted so it takes 2-3 weeks to get it in.

Thanks Trent!

Gary, I believe it is the SM140. It is pretty well made muslin Obviously, it is probably not the heaviest material, but for the price it is a good value.

I will be ordering more from them. Plus, if you call them, everyone has a delightful southern accent.

As I don't have a permanent studio space, I'll put in an on location setup pic to share. Using Elinchrom 400bx monolights, impact HD light stands, Avenger Mini Boom, Avenger Grip Arms, Photoflex reflector holder, Photoflex 42" and 42x74" reflectors, and Red-Wing 53" white/silver umbrella.

Gary, I'm originally from Kentucky and my Dad's family is from TN (around Colimbia). For the past 17 years, I lived in Northern Indiana. It's nice to hear a southern accent from time to time. I miss it.

Ken:

I agree. It IS nice to hear a southern accent from time to time. Unfortunately I hear southern accents ALL of the time! Just kidding. I love living in the foothills of the Smokies. (I live in Knoxville.) I've worked in Chattanooga (a really nice mid size city not far from Atlanta) and Memphis (where my sister lives). So, I've spent most of my life in TN and the south. Occasionally they let me out and I've been as far north as NY and as far west as CA. But, I'm always glad to come home to the mountains

Wow, just went through the entire thread. Lots of interesting ideas and information. Real shame that 80% of the images on the first 130 pages are gone. I'm sure I missed a lot of great stuff

I'll get around to doing a studio shot soon...

It's unfortunate that there are so many broken images at the beginning of this post.

It is really a great thread and is a learning experience.

I went back through the 1st 55 pages and found four more of my posts with broken image links. Thery are now repaired.

It was enjoyable seeing everyone's posts, now over a year old.

It is too bad that so many of the liunks are broken though.

Best regards,
John

I don't want to send my bandwidth through the roof again but a long time back I put quite a bunch of this into a PDF.

So what did I do at work all day today ?????????
Read this post that took 2 hours, getting some purchase advice from John Eckert and then spent another hour trying to come up with an explination to my wife about why I charged the following :

Here's what I bought :

1 AB 1600 - key
1 AB 800 - hair

Here is what I on the verge of buying :

1 Photoflex Half Dome medium for hair
1 Photoflex 5' octadome - for key
2 photoflex stands
1 boom arm - for hair

Anyone thoughts ?

I am mainly shooting - on location both full length and portraits work. The locations for example would be hotel rooms, auto repair garages etc.

Large bandwidth pipe and patience. I used the print function and then made a custom page size that did very minimal clipping. It's a large file but I actually knocked down the size by half in post cleanup.

adobe acrobat professional - allows you to save as a PDF

there are also some converters around on the web - you can even write some code to have your webserver do it
