I surely hope so. I've considered picking JAVA up but learning new languages is unfortunately very time-consuming and all those classes and the MVC the current framework is using feels way too alien to me.
Also -- ma1co just added an option to download "pure" Android apps; just installed CPU-Z on my A7r II and it worked just like it would on a phone (without a touch screen), pretty funny.

You need to:
1. Install the Appstore; if already installed choose to update it
2. Use the appstore, select tab 2 "Other apps" (or what it is called)
Very limited usage though since everything camera specific doesn't work due to the fact that Sony is using customized functions and API calls to it's own API on top of Android. The worthwhile use i can see would be if someone forked an OpenSource project to instead use the Sony Camera specific stuff.

I did some more coding on the UI mockup i created before, now all the sub-options (except save/load) work as i envision them to work (press center button (ENTER-key) to activate option + use left/right to navigate primary and up/down to navigate secondary) etc.
Other
- Added a mode that emulates entering the 'set focus mode' with AF-box, focus-beep (confirm) etc
- Added overlay for buttons to show what buttons are pressed @ camera
- Re-thought exposure bracketing and added limiter, can't E.BRK every single focus frame if those frames > 6 and number of brackets is over X since this obviously becomes and excessive amount of frames

I really hope a developer works on your mock up and turns your ideas into reality. I could test it if needed.
I tried a few 'Other apps' on the A7RII and they all hard crashed. I don't think that's a real possibility without tweaking them first.

Yes, i hope some do too. Unfortunately there are very, very... few developers that also are photographhers of some sort and the ones that are most probably rather spend their time with editing photos. It's sort of a catch 22.
And no, running regular apps that do something worthwhile won't ever work since the cameras basically require the OpenMemories Framework in order to hook into Sonys special API for their cameras.
Sonys Bracket Pro app is useless. It's basically an app for if one is unsure what settings to use and has little to do with what we often mean when we talk about bracketing photos.
The FocusBracket app by obs1dium is only tested by himself with his A5100 and is according to him merely a proof of concept. Hopefully he will update it. The same error with it just hanging on 'focusing' can occur on the A7r II if one has the wrong settings.

I hope people don't mind that I am reviving this thread. I think it is any important thread for people with similar interests wandering on the web to collect information about possibilties.
Today, I received my 90mm Macro G lens and decided to do a side by side comparison with the Hasselblad bellows system that I use on my Sony A6000 via an adapter.
I managed to install the FocusBracket app and I really like it. It does what it's supposed to do. I used it to focus bracket shots tasken with the Sony macro lens. TO focus stak the shots taken by the Hasselblad system, I simply used the geared rail built into the bellows whichis how it essentially focuses. It is really easy to achieve good results thakns to the Sony's focus picking system.

The Sony shots were taken at slightly distance to the subject. However, since the hasselblad system provides bigger working distance, its shots are of higher magnification. Overall it holds well at macro level comparing to the modernSony G lens and not difficult to use at all once set up on tripod. All shots were taken on tripod.
This is just my startup experimention on what to expect from focus stacking technique. Images were partially tweaked in ACR with clarity boosted to 30, highlights and shdows adjusted. I then used Photoshop auto alignment and auto blending functions to stck the different shots. All were traken in raw format.
Obviously if any area is unfocused in all shots, it also remains unfocused in the final result as you see in the images.
