Must be nice to live in paradise and be surrounded by all these great birds!
Fine detail in all of these and that phalarope is extra fine!
Don
Hi Don, thanks much. The Phalarope is a scarce winter migrant to our waters in Trinidad, I was fortunate to get some great close ups of this particular bird and a lifer for me.

Splendid set. Were these shot from a blind?
Thank you, I must say I don't use flash for my nature photography and I have never used a blind except for the usual side of the road opportunities you get ocassionally. I do however wear some degree of camo and stealth to get close to my subjects, well as close as I can.

Your captures are all amazing, but - the White Necked Jacobin is superb.
Now if someone can please explain to me why a hummer with a blue neck is referred to as 'white necked ...'?
Thanks Phillip for your thoughts, much appreciated. As far as the Jacobin goes, they really could have taken the time to give this species a better name.. lol- this image should put things into proper perspective.
Cheers and thanks for looking,
SJ
The "White Necked" Jacobin: reason for the name is quite apparent in this image.
The rain bathing Hummer and the Scarlet Ibis are my favourites among a really amazing collection Stephen-Jay. Really nice work and wonderful variety!

Ok, I get it. You can stop now.
I have no doubt you are aware of how fortunate you are to have these magnificent critter's to photograph. Here in the desert southwest of New Mexico while we do have hummer's their coloration pales in comparison to your species. Regardless, these tiny birds are simply spectacular and are a wonderment in what they have to endure to survive and propagate. Amazing!
You are an inspiration to all of us. I may have to set my gear up and spend a day with our hummers.
