At the same restaurant as image on previous page, this picture taken on 26-Feb-2020, is of a mom-and-pop restaurant that is empty because of a report, raging on social media, about an older Thai couple that returned from a trip to Sapporo: when one of them had a fever after arrival in Bangkok, they lied to the hospital and said that they hadn’t been abroad. Only four days later did they report back to the hospital and tested positive for the coronavirus. In the meantime, they infected one of their grand children. Some twenty of the hospital staff, who had been in their proximity without protective gear had to be quarantined. The restaurant owners told us that it was lucky that they didn’t have any employees because they would have had to lay them off. The restaurant is well-known for hoy joh [ฮ่อยจ๊อ] – deep fried crab meat rolls in tofu wrapper: these are 100% fresh (unfrozen crab) without any additional pork filling.

Actually, this dish is the same in taste and quality as that of another street-side, un-airconcondtiioned restaurant that received two Michelin stars in 2018, but whose prices are multiples of the restaurant pictured here.
