Thanks. Minimal noise improvement at high ISO is not worthwhile for me, though I could rent one when I need two fast/high ISO bodies.

Thanks for the review!

The improvement Canon has made in the base iso DR of the sensor is astonishing. Wow. ...and all without degrading high iso image quality which if anything it is even better.

Speedmaster did you try out that spot metering issue?

Nice review and images. Hopefully Canon sorts out the corruption issue soon.

this is actuallly not a Canon problem despite what people might speculate, the controller in the CFAST card screws up the data during reading. The firmware update will basically emulate the current workaround on Canon's website. This is a band aid solution until the hardware in the CFAST cards are updated which will hopefully solve the slow down issue as well.

best

So is the issue only with Sandisk cards?

Perhaps with the touchscreen hardware already in place that maybe a FW upgrade could add more general touch features over time.

I am also really surprised how limited it is. I have sent my feedback to Canon hopefully they will listen

Nikon bodies can do a lot of tricks with the touch function

It would seem with the touchscreen being in place, it would be simply the matter of a firmware upgrade to allow it. I imagine it wasn't high on their "to-do" list when they were pushing it out the door. Hopefully, it comes with a firmware upgrade.

While it appears to be a Sandisk card issue, it is very strange that the card combo they choose to give away with the camera purchase comes from the problem manufacturer. A bit of an error or lack of testing somewhere along the line(Canon or Sandisk).

Sandisk recommends using their Sanitizer.app to format their CFast 2.0 cards. It seems this format is similar to SD cards in that the card data about to be over-written is erased by the camera. I have not had any difficulties with the CFast card recording and I use the app each time I reformat the card. Related? Who knows?
