p.1 #1 · My Granddaughter Nina's Dance Recital Week - NEW SHOT ADDED
Nina recently turned 21 this past April, can't believe she is growing that fast. She's been dancing since she's been 3, she'll be entering her senior year in college this fall, preparing to take her LSAT exams to enter the law field after she graduates, don't know how she does it, but she somehow maintains a perfect GPA in college, works 2 jobs and finds time to dance, at least 2 nights a week. These are from her recital week, again TERRIBLE lighting, but I guess that's expected. I think with the dance company's number and the finale, the producers seem to get carried away and feel they have to add their impression of the number into the lighting. Sorry for the rant!!
C&C always welcomed and appreciated , again a special shout out to Ron McKinney for his coaching and help from the sidelines. THANKS

Bob, nice!!!! Do you see that in every picture, Nina has the biggest smile of all the dancers. That girl loves to be on the stage! My faves are No. 1 and 6, tho they're all quite good -- esp considering the lighting that you were dealing with!
If you haven't already, I hope you put together a book of all your shots of Nina from throughout the years. That would be priceless!

Ron, thanks for taking the time to look and comment, you are so right with the smile, she works all year for this and just LOVES to dance. I haven't put together an album yet, but I do have yearly pictures from when she was three.
It's priceless to see the journey from then to now, thanks again for your "priceless" help / support /guidance along the way.

Very nice set of a very talented and photogenic granddaughter. My daughter is about to turn 21 and has spent much of her time skating in poorly lit rinks so I know a little about your situation. My one suggestion: It seems to me you are centered on your granddaughter and some of your images might benefit from a wider view--including more of the other dancers. #2 is my favorite of these shots. Good attitude, great pose directed straight at the camera, nice and clear, and the purple lighting just highlights her hair a bit.

Brev00, thanks for taking the time to comment, I'm sure you've been enjoying your daughter's journey thru Ice Skating. sure its been fun (most times!!)
I understand your comment about shooting wider to include more skaters, a lot of Nina's friends get those type of shots, but Nina has always liked the "isolated one on one shots", so that's what I've always tried to capture. Like you noted, most of these shots have very little cropping to them. It's been a fun ride with her, just glad that I've been able to capture it

This is one of the shots Nina asked me to get from day 1 of recital week. It was difficult to shoot and I couldn't really get setup to shoot anything else during the dance except this shot.
I was not having any luck, Ron McKinney stepped in, gave some pointers, I tried them and at least was able to provide him with a workable raw file and this is the result of his magic!! Nina is the dancer on the left!
Can't thank you enough Ron, I owe you big time.
