I think I've made four trips to White Pocket in the past year and the variety in this place just blows me away. I was out there during the last new moon and had some time to kill before the stars made their full appearance and couldn't resist a little blue-hour fun. Shot with A7r and Rokinon 14mm F/2.8. Enjoy!
It's on the very northern stretch of northern Arizona, probably less than a mile from the Utah border. It's pretty remote though and requires 4WD to get out there due to deep sand. I've never needed anything more than a crossover SUV (last car was a Ford Escape) to get out there though, you don't need anything crazy. Though some disregard for damage helps since you gotta keep your speed up

love this shot. I've thought about picking up the rokinon 14 to use with the a7r. are you happy with the combo?
Quite happy! The Roki 14 is a great performer with just a few minor setbacks. I'll probably pick up a native mount (insert wide angle) eventually but it'll hold me over in the meantime. I'm crossing my fingers that a Zeiss Loxia ~15mm will be announced/released someday soon.
I spend maybe 30-40 days around here a year and never tire of it. But the growth has been significant, so I think it may get permitted before too long.

Nice job on this. I love how surreal it is.

I'm jealous that you get to spend that much time out there! I wouldn't be surprised if they started a permit process for this area as well. Though I was out there a few weeks back (for this image) and there was only one other group camping out there. I didn't quite expect to snag the main camping spot on a Friday night but the crowds have been pretty limited from my experience...but it was also 100+ degrees that weekend. I just hope they don't improve the road as I think that keeps most of the people away.
