I applaud your search skills! Is this an old product number for this lens that is still in their system?
About 6 months ago I thought about buying this lens and remember pricing being in the mid $1200s, and now it's roughly $1350 everywhere. I thought I was imagining the lower prices - thank you for validating my sanity!
I've been thinking about 300D just to get the triple rebate. With $300 off, I could probably get the kit for a net of $550 and then resell it on Ebay and make a couple dollars or give it as a Christmas gift to my dad.
But - to max the rebate I need to buy one more Canon lens. Ooooooh - the torture!
How do you feel about the Sigma 15-30EX? Some love it, some pan it - so I don't know what to think. You have a 24-70L and that's my benchmark for comparing lenses. How would say the Sigma 15-30EX does in color, contrast & sharpness relative to the 24-70L?
AGGGHHHH - Photo Expo sale! More torture... I just skimmed the site and couldn't find anything. Do you have a list of wish items are on the list? I'd need to find the Rebel kit w/ the lens and then another lens to hit the triple rebate mark. I agree, $1119 for the 16-35 is just too hard to pass up. And if they have 20D's marked down too, we'll that just changes all the rules! Dad could get a used 10D instead!
When I had just 28-105 and the 100-400L, I liked the 15-30 sigma.
I bought it 9/17/01 to take pictures of the inside of boats.
The 15-30 is kind of noisy and the focusing ring moves when it focuses-- you have to keep your hand away from it..
Now that I have the 24-70 2.8, I don't like the 15-30
it doesn't seem as sharp... hence my interest in the 16-35..
Currently it is a purpose lens... If I can't zoom with my feet, then I will use the 15-30.
I was taking pictures of my newly painted house and there are trees in the way so I could not zoom with my feet. The 24mm was not wide enough so I brought out the 15-30.
Incidently, through use I am getting the feeling that the 24-70 isn't that sharp when compared to the 85 f1.2. (my first reflection on this is Duh..) . Its just a feeling after browsing lots of images, i have not run a test.... so i am trying to fill in the focal lengths with primes...
I have been wanting to get a 16-35 2.8 but I've been happy with the 15-30 Sigma and to me the extra stop is not worth it over the extra reach of the Sigma. Since I have gotten the 24-70L I think I will go for the 12-24 Sigma and ditch the 15-30 since it looks like Canon is heading toward EF-S wide which doesnt help me with the 10D.
Sort of off topic, but you guys look to be in the know!
Is there any rebate on a 1d mkll going on now??
Man....I just bought a 24-70 2.8L a month ago....typical for me.....buy high, sell low!
Edit: I looked at the rebate form but I'm still confused. Do I need to buy 3 items that are on that list in order to get $300 off and then I get to choose where I apply the rebate?

You can either buy a DSLR, doesn't matter which one although the 300D you can get up to $300 off and two lenses OR buy three lenses to get the triple rebates.
It is very interesting wording on Canon USA website wrt the rebate:
Double or Triple your rebate when you purchase a Digital EOS Camera with one or more EF Lenses. Buy any 2 different items, get double rebate amount. Buy 3 different items, get triple rebate amount.
Does this mean you have to buy at least an camera in the list in order to qualify the double/triple rebate?
Delta is a retailer for both Canon USA AND Grey goods. They are exclusively grey for Sigma but that's no big deal either. Their prices are the best for them anyway. Also their Hoya filter prices are way lower than anyone else.
