Whilst not in any way claiming that the panny 100-400 is in any way the equal to the 300 f4 with pro-capture + sync IS all I was pointing out, in a slightly tongue in cheek way, is that its quite possible to achieve "you get the exact moment you want to capture without any lag" using it (not so easy and you do have to time it right yourself of course, but for some of us

I know what the purpose of pro capture is, and it is not for capturing the exact moment of a subject that is ALREADY in motion. That can be done with most cameras.

I won't argue since you clearly have a point to make but I simply suggest that one can either rely on the camera to take 14 shots before an event occurs or plan to do so oneself.

Let's leave it there

I will leave it there because you clearly don't understand the concept, nor see the benefit of it doing what other cameras cannot do.

E-M1.2 + 75-300/4.8-6.7 II @ 300mm

What's so great about the E-M1.2? It doesn't focus hunt! :-)

I also tried my A7r.2 with the FE 70-300/4.5-5.6 G OSS - but it was focus hunting.
It's about time Sony produces a follow-on model that's competitive with the E-M1.2 with regards to focusing.

K-H, have you played any with a6300 or a6500.
I think you'd be satisfied with the AF/AF-tracking
but not with the longest lens being 300mm

Could be because you are using a slow lens with the A7r2. If you use a fast f2.8 or f4.0 lens I believe you will get better AF performance.

Too bad Sony doesn't have FE options for 300mm + at f/2.8 or f/4!

Well Bobby, on the E-M1.2 I used the 75-300/4.8-6.7 @ 300mm and f/6.7.
On the A7r.2 I used the FE 70-300/4.5-5.6 G OSS @ 300mm and f/5.6.

Hi Robert, I have the FE 70-300/4.5-5.6 G OSS currently mounted on my a6300.
I will try that combination next on the cranes overhead.

I still have my D800E and AF-S 80-400/4.5-5.6 VR. I know that combination doesn't focus hunt.

K-H.

AF and AF-tracking with the A7Rii was not a problem. I've BIF'ed with it. Shutter lag and EVF blackout though were a problem after 3 frames....so get it quickly. Buffer size for action not good either on the A7rii....but the AF module is a good one.

Guys on this Sony thing and nothing greater than 300mm. I should be thankful. That is the reason that I added mFT and now am a happy Olympus owner.
So no complaints in the big scheme of things.

My first outing with P 100-400 mounted on E-M1.2. I love the size, weight and reach of the lens compared to my previous rigs (A7rII + Sigma 150-600, X-T2 + 100-400) but looking at the results could be better with more sharpness and better details.

Are these with the lens IS on or off? Try shooting with the IBIS instead of lens IS.

These were with OIS. I did not change anything on the IBIS. My understanding is that it should have been automatically disabled.

My thoughts exactly ... when I was shooting with a Canon! With Olympus all you need is a small loan.

Some people are seeing issues with the OIS on the EM1.2 with this lens. Turning it off and relying on IBIS seems to give better results.

Worth a try. My copy of the 100-400 is great. I use IBIS.
