Gary,
I have searched the manual for 'super' and 'large super fine' and cannot find it anywhere?

Gary, belay that last request.
Not in the manual per se but is in the manus under G funky symbol then Set.
There is 'funky symbol' 1,2,3,4
Not knowing any better I changed each one to L SF.

Next question to Oly experts (where is Poof when I need her).
The color/tone of the EFF is way different than the LCD. The LCD is realistic.
Clues on make the EVF more real?

That should be no problem. IIRC the 1,2,3,4 corresponds to the size of the image produced, 1 being the full size/resolution. Since I never use 2,3,or4 I don't mess with those settings. Some people say there is no difference between the LN and LSF, but I think I see a difference in the resolution and image detail.

Bobby, thank you for your honesty, My gear is going up for sale soon and buying FF stuff.

Now I get why my pictures suck.

I would take that with 10 grains of salt. Resolution by itself is not everything. A larger sensor with lesser MP is better than a smaller sensor with more MP.

SavingSpaces, I'm just so glad that photography is a hobby/release for me and not a profession. Well it's really more than that. I am suffering the advance of age and it is documented all over the literature that learning a new language (Olympus,Sony, etc), playing games, and others that engage the mind help slow/prevent Alzheimer's and other dementias.
I know I'm never to be Nat Geo level, heck I won't even be BobbyT, Joshua Ong, Imagemaster, etc. level and I'm good with that--I'm only competing with me
To me it is harder/more challenging to get a good image with mFT and for several reasons, but that part of it is like above-a puzzle to figure out that (I'm hoping) helps my mind.

All that said, if you're going FF look at the a99ii. It is the most interesting FF I've ever played with. I'm flying off with it tomorrow and hopefully can put it through BIF paces; then I'll know more about it.

A co-worker last night at work looked at my Oly and asked 'having all the stuff you have why do you like mFT?' I showed him my most favorited image on Flickr I got in Iceland this past April-May. You'd think some grand landscape with the A7Rii I took, but it was just a simple shot of a Puffin with the Lumix GX8-

Great Puffin shot there MM. I hope one day I'm able to shoot one myself.

I used to be a FF snob as well. Wanted ultra low noise, super thin DoF, and be able to say "look I shot this at ISO 14,000 and it looks so clean!"

Then going out shooting with a FF camera and lenses just wasn't fun. With the 5D and D810 the camera and lenses were just too big. With the a7 series it was just too slow and clunky.

Ever since I came back to m4/3 I know that technically it might be lacking. That it might have noise. That it might even have noise at base ISO. And that even with a 1.2 lens I won't have that creamy background like I did with my D810. My engagement shoots might not be as sharp as my D810 at ISO 64 with my 24-70 2.8, but at the end of the day I enjoy shooting more with my E-M1 II now. If I was a working pro and relied on this for my income then I would tolerate the big D810 with 2.8 zooms and 1.4 primes. But as a hobbyist and full time dad I accept the trade offs and just shoot countless frames of my kids.

Robert - SavingSpaces is not going FF. He was just being facetious.

GREAT Puffin shot BTW.

Haha! Fooled me (easy to do).
OK the kit is packed. If Delta does there job will be shooting Viera Wetlands
Friday morning.
Will be comparing the M1ii + PL100-400 with
Sony a99ii + 70-400G2.
Why?
Why not

Which brings up a new beef with Oly---why oh why the long/big AC cord for the battery charger? Even Canon gives small packable chargers (except for the 1D bodies). I bet there is something aftermarket for the other Olys but not the new M1ii.

Yeah ... the wired charger is ridiculous. The E-M1 charger is also wired. Just get the inexpensive generic battery and charger when it's available.

Just buy a duckhead plug, they're very cheap on Amazon, eyc. This plug replaces the cord and is much smaller.

I've never seen one=perfect solution for the Oly charger.

Has anyone played with low ISOs? Any noticeable difference between the 20mp sensor and the old 16mp sensor with noise at 200 and below?

(also posted on DP Review)

BIF success... finally. Well, it took some trial and error (lot's of errors) and about 1,500 shots, but I finally got to the point where I know what works for me.....and boy, does it work.

Shooting Pelicans and Seagulls at the Gulf front today and after some really frustrating non-focusing/non shutter release with the PL100-400, I put on the Oly 12-40 2.8 and bingo....huge success, albeit not nearly enough focal length. I had been using the mechanical shutter but switched to the electronic shutter with C-AF and got some steady lock ups. Then I tried the C-AF with Tracking and fell in love. If I got the initial focus to lock, it stuck like glue.

So....back to the 100-400 and tried the C-AF with tracking. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it would just no give a focus lock at all. After some more trial and errors I discovered that if I left the focus limiter on the lens at "full" it would lock focus almost instantly and just like the 12-40 it stuck. If I set the limiter to 5-infinity it would not lock at all. I also found that turning the OIS of the lens on, actually helped the focus lock as opposed to the E-M1 where there seemed to be a fight gong on.

The result was that with the 12-40 a low flying Pelican came at me, shooting electronic
/low burst at 18 FPS, I got 35 images and all but one was in focus (5 cross focus mode)

A 13 shot burst on a Pelican landing resulted in every one with a lock on the eye (Image below)

I also did some stationary birds with their necks bobbing and weaving and the tracking was dead on. (Image below)

This thing actually works

The images are uncropped and SOOC jpgs

There is a problem using the Focus Limiter on the 100-400mm with the Mark 2.

See https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4092738 for details.
