Just talked to B&H. FWIW, as of today they are still expecting their shipment to arrive at their warehouse Dec. 12th. Turnaround time typically runs 24-48 hours, according to Customer Service.
They hit my credit card for the authorization of my order a few days ago. When I called Olympus they said they do that to ensure the shipment doesn't get delayed, once they know the camera is expected to arrive shortly. I asked when would it be shipping out to me and they said either this week or next. Hopefully this will happen before Christmas and it won't be delayed until late December.

any word when the 12-100 f4 will be available?
They're starting to appear in the US at smaller stores and a few places are selling them online. I believe a friend of mine picked his up from Kenmore cameras online at eBay.
That is correct. Friend of mine cancelled his order with B&H and got a copy from Cameta Camera.

As awesome as the EM1-II looks on paper, Olympus did too good of a job making their older cameras for me to feel the need to upgrade. Every time I start to look at the newer cameras I realize my original E-M5 still does everything I want it to. Sony does planned obsolescence better

It's good that you already own an Oly that does everything you want it to. I don't even own an Oly and will go straight for the E-M1 Mk II because of all the things it will do that your E-M5 won't do.
Oly hit the ball out of the park with this new model. JMO, of course.

Oh I think it's going to be an amazing camera, my photography needs are just really simple these days. I'm mostly talking myself down from trying to buy one. Give me a few years and I'll buy your used copy so I can actually afford it

Good to see you get on board the m43 train, Tony! We (and particularly Olympus) need some good BIF shooters like yourself. I have been debating if I should cancel my pre-order for the Mk II, as I rarely do BIF and the E-M1 is quite amazing for still and slow-moving targets, but my buddy Joshua Ong wants to do Bosque del Apache in January - so I think I will keep the order.
After having repeated problems at Yellowstone in May with temps in the mid 30's I did a google search and found this to be a common problem. Fix was to remove the lens and tap on the shutter with my finger and then it would release.
This is specific to the E--M1 and not a problem with the E-M5 or E-M5 Mk II which have a different shutter mechanism and not the two shutters that are found in the E-M1.
Bobbytan, I really like your processing, what software are you using? I use LR but am considering a change as I don't care for how it handles bright colors and noise.

Bob, I wish it was "that" easy. Bobby is very skilled - using the same program doesn't mean we can come anywhere close to Bobby's result.
I am big fan of LL CC. I use the Basic Panel mostly. With contrasty images I would move the Whites slider all the way to the left, and if that isn't enough, I would pull down the Highlights as well - and the increase the Shadows to a degree and as needed. If that isn't enough I may reduce the Exposure. If I am not happy with the color I may make some adjustments to the color Color Temperature. I use the Vibrance slider a lot, and I may add some Clarity if the image calls for it. Occasionally I would use the DeHaze slider. I do use the Radial Filter quite a bit for local correction, and sometimes the Graduated Filter. If you are not familiar with these tools do check out the video tutorials.
If I am still not too happy with the overall look/color I will take the image to Nik Color Efex Pro to check out the Presets there. I do like Nik Dfine for noise reduction, but most of the time (if the noise is not too bad) I would just use the NR tool on Photoshop Smart Sharpen - where I sharpen my image as well.
Do check out the Lumenzia luminosity mask Photoshop plug-in. That's an amazing tool that I have not learnt to use ... yet.
