Yesh, 43Rumors is now saying the price will be a "tiny bit above the X-T2". Thats putting over the $2K mark in Canada so we're definitely going to be paying a premium for it.
Apparently someone is writing that Hunt's Photo sent out an email to those on their mailing list showing $1,999 as the preorder price. I was hoping for $1,499, could tolerate $1,699. $1,999 is a whole new ballgame.
I am willing to bet that it will be no higher than $1,699.

Initially, didn't some "users' say that the xt2 was as good as the D500? Where are those tests now?
It will deliver for sure, but what? ! Will it be tracking as well as the Nikon? "Maybe" in perfect light it will be "almost" as good but I wouldn't hold my breath. If it delivers, everyone will be happy.

I already posted a link showing it will probably sell for $1,750US in New Zealand.
Not a great sign. I do know the Yen has taken a hit lately but not a good forecast. Already starting to read potential buyers start to question whether they should be looking towards an a6500 or an X-T2.
The problem I have with that is my 300/4 PRO will not work, or will not work as well, with the a6500 or X-T2.

I'm still going to preorder it, since it doesn't cost anything. I'm hopeful it's less than reported but if Olympus feels like it's worth the asking price, they better be confident of its abilities or risk losing potential buyers in the future. I thought the Pen F was a great camera but overpriced. The market keeps on increasing in price though, with exception being the 5DIV which released at the same price as 4 years ago. a6500 going from $1,000 -> $1,400, X-T2 going from $1,300 - $1,600.

Rough conversion in Dollar: $2250 (but keep in mind price in US will be much lower as usual)
We will have to wait a couple of days to see what much lower means.

If the E-M1 II is $2200 then the Pen-F looks like a pretty good buy right now. I think you're right that Olympus must be pretty confident that it's going to deliver if they price it at or above the $2000 mark.
Olympus said it would be better than any crop sensor out there. Now at $2k, or even $1700, they're gonna have to prove it to me if they want my money. I'm not going to preorder.

I hope so, although they've made pretty bold claims so far. Sometimes it's "over hype and under deliver."
They've had a very long time to work on the autofocus for this camera.
Something doesn't add up here. Olympus at the development announcement went out of their way to say it would only be a modest price increase. $2000 for the body only is way more than a modest increase!
I'd much rather than just say, "Hey we only have 10,000 units made. We can't make any more right now. So those who don't want to wait 6 months you'll be paying a $300 early adopter tax. Those that can wait until April of 2017, you'll be able to get it for $1,699. Thanks and have a good day."
