Agreed, I'm cautiously optimistic about the AF improvement. The true acid test of that for me will be flying birds. I tried them with the M1 on the pany 300mm zoom and it was hopeless for fast flyers. But even if it still lags in that department, if it can handle following a bird bouncing around in a tree that will be welcomed. The improved battery will be appreciated too. Hopefully it ships in November or early December in decent quantities.
I too had the Panny 100-300 zoom on the E-M1 and found it not capable for BIFs, at least for me. That all changed with the PanLeica 100-400. The problem seemed to be, not with the camera body, but with the horrendously slow focusing motors of the 100-300. I suspect that the P100-300 will not fare much better with the new E-M1 II, even with the 121 cross type PDAF.

Our reader Wolfie sent us this: Been advised by email from photowarehouse.co.nz that Olympus E-M1 mk2 body will sell for $NZ 2,500 (current exchange =1,750 US). Available mid November.
Yes, I saw that post. I'm more concerned about quantities when it does ship though. The 300f4 when it began to ship was tough to get, maybe it still is, I don't know.
Like seemingly everyone else I'm most interested in the AF improvements. I just went to the Fort Worth and Houston airshows back to back. I lost track of how many times the E-M1 lost focus and stared hunting when the airplane was still dead center of the focus point or points with both the 40-150/2.8 and 300/4 Pro lenses. When it hit, both were extremely sharp, but the keeper rate was many times abysmally low. Of course, the camera I was switching back and forth with the E-M1 was my D5, so I was obviously spoiled by what is arguably the best AF of any camera available.
I also did a lot of morning/evening/low light tripod shooting during special photo tours in Fort Worth, again using both cameras. The E-m1 compared very well, especially when i did exposure bracketing and stitching multiple pan photos to get a larger image. I wish the Nikon had the live composite and live bulb features, I loved doing light painting with those modes!
Seems as though they're hosting an event in Iceland now and the announcement next week. Looks good. And while Huff seems to praise almost everything new he tries, I'm excited since he's somewhat of a 3rd party and not an Olympus employee or staff member.

Well if he is purchasing the product like everyone else? Can you get a higher compliment? That of course doesn't mean that you will like the improvements personally but that is another story.

Did my post come off as me being negative or pessimistic about it? Just pointed out the disclaimer since everyone says that Huff is overly happy about everything he tries. I'm as excited as anyone about it and can't wait until preorders start.

He's certainly pumped about the camera. Lots of adjectives in the report. Hopefully it's as good as his first impressions.

Steve had this to say in his comments section.
"Low light AF is so much better!!! Locked on in near darkness."
Yes, I saw that, but that is hardly a comprehensive review of its overall AF capabilities. I am sure his comments were not referring to moving subjects and shooting in AI Servo.
I will wait to see his further comments on that scenario.
Honestly I don't think I've had any low light complaints with my EM-10 even.
Though I tried using a Nikon D750 in the store the other day, and the speed with which it obtained focus was darned impressive.
Yesh, 43Rumors is now saying the price will be a "tiny bit above the X-T2". Thats putting over the $2K mark in Canada so we're definitely going to be paying a premium for it.
