I concluded before this seeing this set that the 200-500 is the telezoom that has impressed me the most particularly regarding the combination of sharpness and bokeh. This set only confirms my earlier impression. Very nice. The combo seems like putty in your hands. My only question: While the separation in some of these shots is really phenomenal, how much is the gear and how much is any processing that you have performed? Much complex pp or just pretty much what the gear got you?
Good question - most were taken in JPG. Yup jpg as I have not received my LR 6 yet. Can't stand Capture NX. Slight brightness/shadow adjustments and crop to prefer look in LR 5 with the JPG file. I do not use PS - too cheap to subscribe to CC.
Then no layer/masks to further separate the birds with intense Photoshop processing (that I don't do). Even more impressive then. Thanks for your response.

correct - I don't even know how to use these two powerful features in PS. Heard about them all the time though.
Maxim - yes Nikon D500 does have that. However, it does NOT allow you to set the Focus Tracking sensitivity individually for each focus point option, i.e. in Canon you can set single focus point for "AF-ON" and you can also set the Servo tracking sensitivity for this focus point. With Nikon, you can't do the later. I also found that most useful as well.
But the D500 AF system is soooooo goooooood that I soon forgotten about this feature in Canon.

and now I have the answer.
I am jumping ship from Canon.
Thang, One question.
In Canon system, there are options to re-prog buttons for AF,
ie, one button for ALL AF, another for zone AF etc.
Does D500 allow that ?
I find that feature most useful for Canon.
