I mostly do landscapes, so I would appreciate some feedback on this portrait.
Took my trombone-playing friend and my Elinchrom Quadra into the woods.
One flash with shoot through umbrella, from above camera right.
I might try to open up the shadows under his right leg (facing the camera) a bit in post. I had to look at this twice to make sure he wasn't emerging from within the tree stump. Otherwise, it's an interesting concept and well lit, especially with a shoot-through umbrella that makes spill a challenge.
Everyone's monitor and calibration is different so the read could be off, but on my Eizo it looks good and any more lit will result in flattening the geometry.
Execution is excellent in composition to even the horizon line w/ 2-point perspective really giving him a larger than life posture. You hit the angle just right. I would desaturate the greens a bit for a better pull.
Aside from all that, good balance and color choice. FotoHouse approved.
