Really neat shot. Great comp with the path that makes it feel like you could step right in to the scene and I love the way the swathes of vibrant green cut through the otherwise monotone setting.
Very interesting and detailed comp. It seems balanced and have a nice lead. As a suggestion, I would try to fix the little discoloration from the top of the tree branch on the right side.
Best,
Fred
Now for my honest critique. This totally reminds me of an experience I had. A year ago I drove my Jeep from Montrose over the Black Canyon (highway 92) during a seasonal spring snowstorm like this. I was the only person out there. I took a ton of pictures. Snow trees grass, grouse, etc. However what I didn't like, when I got home was that the grass in the images looked just like yours. Too tame, and green, like it was mowed. So I never posted any because it didn't represent what I was seeing at the time. which was truly wild. Just food for thought.
I will agree with Craig. I had the same thoughts as he did. While there are others that see this as an awesome shot, I found it a bit uninteresting. The green grass and white snow just doesn't create interest. Like Craig I have been in similar situations and it's awesome to experience. But the capture left me wanting personally. My first thought on this was it could make a very nice B&W. For me, sometimes that capture of a moment does not always capture the emotion of the moment.
I think it's a fine shot. Perhaps it's not for everyone, and perhaps it would make a very nice black and white, but, then again, jagged mountain peaks and images with the word "fire" in the title aren't for everyone either.

Sure, different strokes for different folks. Hopefully though it's okay to say that an image doesn't do anything, or really speak to me. The OP has gotten lots of pats on the back with this.
And if you think this is a fine shot, that's fine...

Absolutely! No offense intended.
I do know what you mean about pats on the back and appreciate hearing others' honest opinions and criticisms myself. If nothing else, they can help toughen us for the inevitable really painful comments and criticisms we're bound to receive.
