I'm doing pretty well with my obsolete Tammy 50-135. The black spots opn the leaves are called, interestingly enough, Black Spot fungus. It is there because of a very wet spring. I am looking to repolace it with the Sigma 50-150 because it has VR and my hands are not steady.
Just received my Sigma 50-100. Haven't had much time to play with it, much less dial the focus in.. Here's a bokehlicious pic of my kiddos playing shuffleboard at the local Main Event. Pic is pretty much straight out of camera, minus a minor crop.
I'm a 1D4 user myself and dang, this does look enticing. I think it could be a part of a sweet 3-lens combo with the 16-35 and 100-400 lenses. Must... resist!..
(Actually the new Tamron 85mm f/1.8 does look no less sweet; it's an obviously different lens but still...)
Did you guys ever try this lens on APS-H? I'm still rocking 1D4s myself, and I hadn't even really considered this before... Would be nice to hear from someone who's tried it. (With apologies to the Nikon shooters here...)

If that fungus hurts silver maple could I get you to pick some of those leaves and mail them to me. Just kidding (maybe).

I never held it in my hands because I've long since given up on hitting the shops / fairs and testing new things. I may try it if I ever get a chance.
I found the following, from TheCameraStoreTV, to be an excellent review of the Sigma and an excellent assessment of the lens' strengths and weaknesses.
Meh. I knew it wasn't weather-sealed and lacked OS when I preordered.
Bought it for it's stunning optical qualities. Duh!! One shouldn't confuse
reviewers with photographers...I'm makin' bank with mine.
I've really been enjoying this lens. I admit that there have been occasions where 100mm has been a bit short, but I'm finding that 50mm is much better than 70mm(my old 70-200VR) for indoor volleyball as well as chasing the kids around. The lens feels excellent attached to my gripped D7200. I'm not a pro like trenchmonkey-photography is just a hobby for me, but so far this lens has been a joy to shoot.
Well i can confirm focus tracking with the new lens. i got my copy a couple days ago and its tack sharp on my d7200 with no adjustments needed. these little buggys are super fast and require a lens that can focus track well. still needed some noise reduction with the d7200. not to bad though.
Had Sigma added another 35-50MM on the long end I would be all over it. Now I just put a 24-70 on the D500 and I have a Siggy with benefits. Lighter weight, more range and I save some weight.
^ Love to hear how you have "more range" with the 24-70??
It's a stop and a third SLOWER as well...very strange comment.
I have the 24-70 and the IQ isn't in the same conversation.

He forgot to add the crop factor into the sigma lol.
