I'm a Canon shooter so y'all be nice to me, but there's no chatter over there with those guys so I came here to see what people were saying about this...
I've ordered the 18-35 f/1.8 to use on my 70D (to replace my 17-40L) and this 50-100 has my interest more than piqued. I have a 50/1.8 and a 100/2.8 L Macro in my bag and while I absolutely adore the 100L, I could see this guy replacing my 50/100 setup and giving me a "one lens fits all" solution on the mid-to-short tele range while the 18-35 does standard wide-to-normal duty.
My only caveat is that I'd be missing the macro functionality of the 100L. Curious to know if this lens would be compatible with any of the extension tubes on the market. Anybody have any experience with other Sigma lenses and extension tubes? Any issues to note?

Erg, I do not have an extension tube, hadn't considered using it like that. My intended use is people shots.
No worries!!! Looks like a stunner of a lens regardless... Might be worth it to bite the bullet and give it a shot with an extension tube. It's such a promising lens that I'm tempted to just go for it.

Canon shooter here but VERY curious if this will work on the APS-H Canon sensors. Would be an unbelievable combination with 1D3 or 1D4.
Actually I think it'll be a killer combo with any large MP FF camera.
A small crop and/or just a change in aspect ratio and the vigneting could be entirely acceptable.
The only question mark would be does resolution drop significantly outside the APS-C area? Even if so, it's likely this part of the image will incorporate out of focus rendering so it probably won't matter.
The fact Sigma released an APS-H mirrorless recently gives me some confidence that Sigma at least had APS-H in mind when designing this lens, although maybe not specifically designed for it.

According to the Lenstip review, it will:
As you see attaching the Sigma to a full frame camera is not exactly a good idea. Still the shape of the vignetting indicates that the lens would cooperate nicely with older EOS-1 series Canon cameras equipped with the APS-H sensor.
I'm a 1D4 user myself and dang, this does look enticing. I think it could be a part of a sweet 3-lens combo with the 16-35 and 100-400 lenses. Must... resist!..
(Actually the new Tamron 85mm f/1.8 does look no less sweet; it's an obviously different lens but still...)
The cat shot was with my Nikon D7200, with two small octaboxes to either side of the lens, which are visible in the cat's eyes.

I went ahead and placed an order for one... If it doesn't work for me, I can return it or resell it at a slight loss. I've never gone "all in" on a brand new product before, but the thought that I can do 18-35 + 50-100, both at f/1.8 and eliminate my 17-40, 35/2, 50/1.8 and 100/2.8 is too good to ignore.
I may actually keep the 35/2 as a smallish walkaround prime, but I haven't decided yet. Once I get a chance to properly test the SIgmas, I should have a better idea of what I'm keeping and what I'm ditching.
I went to take a good look at this lens...lovely made and very tempted. However, my serving APSC EOS body is 30D...so I have to go to the F mount for which I go a brand new D500. The thing is, newly bought Commlite F to FE mount adapter does not work as previously thought. Have to withhold my decision for a while.
I just got my second one and it's going back... I wish my results were even half as good as yours Trench. Beautiful images and exactly what I expected of this lens. Unfortunately, my images are mushy, lacking contrast and are largely out of focus unless I shoot from a good ways back and at f/3.5 or f/4.
The first copy I had was much better than this one. But I think I'll swap mine out for a 70-200 f/2.8.
You're getting really stunning results with yours!!! I'm jealous!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that, man. My 1st shots. No tune, no dock, SOOC. I'll get
serious with it before voicing my twice cents, but these were f4...f2.8...f2.8
It's an inch shorter but a bit fatter than that 70-200 f2.8 Crazy, huh?! Thx.

Why not send it in for calibration under warranty? Unless what you believe that wouldn't fix the issue you speak of. These pics have me contemplating picking one up though!
