p.1 #1 · Children's Fashion + Cute Kids {including a few of mine}
I was recently contacted by a boutique children's clothing company that I LOVE and asked if I could photograph a few of their upcoming pieces of them in exchange for the clothing itself. Considering these pieces are next to impossible to snag when they release for sale to the public, I was all over it! They sent the clothing in my kiddos' sizes so it was a win/win for me. I still have 1 more dress and 3 bathing suits to try to photograph before I have my baby this week, but wanted to share a little of what I've been doing to keep myself busy currently. I stopped taking clients the beginning of this month in anticipation of the birth of our little girl, so this has been a fun little project for me. These are a few of my favorites.
1 First up are my youngest 4 children modeling a boy/girl matching set. They make pretty adorable models, if I do say so myself.
2 What do you know, I actually *do* photograph smiling children now and then! This is my 2 year old son, Gabriel, who was VERY into this little project, as you can see. haha
3 Happy faces all around! The furry one is Richard, our sweet and very patient pet bunny.

7 These next images are of little Miss Lily - one of the spunkiest and most adorable little girls I've ever shot. We had a very tiny shooting window before it was too dark to continue, but we somehow managed to get 3 different dresses in in that short time. The purple dress is mine as I wanted something to share right away for mom while waiting for the boutique dresses to release.

14 One of my favorites - showing me her muscles and laughing hysterically the entire time. lol
15 Lily was VERY hard to get a serious face out of, but I adore this one. She looks like an angel.

For crying out loud, those are adorable. Amazing light and color. Love the fields -- we are far from flowers yet here (except for perennials.) I have to say, for a minute, I thought you had twin girls! Hard to choose a favorite, but #1 and #16 jump out to me the most. Stunning color on #16. Oh, and VERY NICE gig with the clothes!

Thank you Kristin! We have a really long wildflower season here - it starts in February in the low, hot desert elevations and lasts all the way into September during monsoon season up in the mountains. I love my flowers! My girls are actually Irish twins - they are almost exactly 1 year apart.

Thank you guys! Jim, I was sent probably around $1000 worth of free clothing, so I'm cool with that. I just have to provide a few web sized images of each dress for them to use. My kids are thrilled with the new clothes, each item that was sent was sent in duplicates so each of my girls and boys got one of everything that was sent. They're definitely worth more than that if they are to go to the after market - the pieces are extremely hard to cart

LUCKY about the long growing season; one of the hardest things about living here, but we do have amazing perennials and hoping to get out TODAY and get a few in. WOW about Irish Twins. I never had that happen (11 kids); fun for them to be so close, though. My sister and I are 14 mos. apart.

They are actually part of a set of Irish quads - Adrian was born in August of 06, Quentin in July of 07, Camille in June of 08, and Octavia in June of 09. It was a lot of work when they were little but now that they're older, it's gotten a lot easier.

Lisa, every time I look at your images I realize I have so much to learn and improve. It is very inspiring. Absolutely amazing pictures (as usual). 14, 15 and 16 jump at me especially 16.
One question (if you don't mind). Do you shoot a sequence (burst) of shots in Continuous AF mode? I can't imagine children that young holding their poses. You do an amazing job.

Thanks,

Thank you Sanjay! I don't shoot in burst mood - I am really trying to stop overshooting honestly. I focus, wait for the right moment, and then take the photo.

Thank you Lisa for answering my question, appreciate it. It is truly amazing that you shoot in natural light and non-burst mode and come up with such winners. I always look forward to clicking on your posts to enjoy your pictures and also get some inspiration. Best wishes.

Wow, that's amazing. The closest any of my kids are is 17-mos (several spaced around that age, though.) Like ours, I bet yours are great friends and that you have a lot of fun in your house. I can't wait to hear about your new little one.

Yet again these are fantastic, an object lesson in photographing kids, these just scream fun and at the same time high end editorial, I think #15 is wonderful, the little girl reminds me of Kirsten Dunst across the eyes. Superb as always Lisa, wishing you all the best on the coming arrival, Bill.
