Thanks for the comments, Eric. I visit the place less than I would like to. I need to go back to work so I can find some time off

Great variety and excellent captures. I didn't realized that they had caracara.
Harsha
Thanks for stopping by, Harsha. Yes you will see Caracaras there. I also got a pic of a Red-shouldered with prey, but they are not very common.

Wow, Socrate, what a fantastic set! The images themselves are great, but what really stands out is the diversity of species, the elusive ones (I would love to have a bittern or two on my own hard drive), and so many great IF shots. Next time take me with you!
Greg
Thanks Greg. I will be more than happy to go shooting together

All are extra nice Socrate. I saw a Least bittern last year, but it never came close enough for a decent shot much less a great shot like yours ~ Ron
Thanks Ron. Those Least Bittern can drive you crazy

simply jaw dropping stuff, socrate. is it the 400 DO at work? any TC used or not, Socrate
BTW, I am coming to FL from May 14th to 21st. hopefully we can catch up at some point.Voted
Thank you, Kd. The 400DO II is a great performer and paired with a 1.4xTC has replaced my 500mm. (You loose a bit of AF speed). I used two 7D II one with a 100-400 and the other with the 400mm DO + 1.4xTC and that is all I needed.

Socrate,
I am truly humbled. As you know I have been there. But never come close to the quality of any off the inflight captures you have shared and I have yet to see the full variety you photographed. Truly exceptional work!
Thank you, Chris

Excellent series of the diversity of Viera Wetlands. I have seen at least 4 least bitterns there this year. However, seeing and getting a photo are two different things. Well done.

Thanks, Dave I know those little boogers like to hide inside those reeds and they hardly come out.

I really like the baby gator shot
Cattle Egret is just awesome!
A nit on the Anhinga, would love to see you remove that one blade of grass that goes up to the fish. The shot is just marvelous
I could go on and on...........as I usually do Elusive Least Bittern is just as described and a very effective shot for me.
I can't help but appreciate the techs of exposure and your presentation and I find it hard to believe that you could see this much in one day...............that is quite a place and you must know your way around so when I come to Florida I am hiring you as my guide
Thank you Karl. I actually spent three days in Viera. I didn't visit any other place, this time and I didn't regret it.
Thanks for the tip to remove the blade of grass.

Great set Shasoc. Viera was defiantly a highlight of our trip from Oregon to Florida and back. If we get back i will be spending a lot more time at Viera. The rookery at High Island Texas was at the top of the list with Viera.

The birds must have a regular flight path to get so many IF shots in one visit. And you got some very secretive species as well. Where in Florida is this jewel. Or maybe you took all the good stuff and left nothing for the rest of us!!!
