We were on our way to San Diego to photograph seascapes at sunset, but we changed our plan to head to Santa Barbara when our friends told us that there were some wildflowers blooming in the area. It was quite a long drive, and we arrived there just before sunset. It was disappointing to see only a few patches of wildflowers. However, I refused to go home empty-handed, so I decided to capture a few outdoor portraits of my beautiful model. Here, they are....
#2 is going to take home the prize; my fave of the two, too. Nice pose gets her entirely within the frame with some nice space for the colorful scene. Having her hands busy with the flower and her attention on it works very well. I might like to see it with a plain black frame instead of the white as the image is already bright and vivid. You managed excellent clarity of her hands, jewels, and dress. What gear did you use?
Thanks Brev00 for your comments and suggestion. I will try to reframe it with a black frame.
For this shot, I used Sony A7ii + Zeiss Batis 85mm/1.8 taken at f/1.8.
The second image is very nice. I dislike looking to technology for solutions but with a shot such as this the Nikon DC lenses would be great or you can use the very old technique of using a clear filter or gel with a little touch of vaseline to blur the foreground or do it in post.
Everything everyone has said about number two is true, it's a wonderful shot.
Something no one has mentioned, though, how much her hat brings to the photo.
Notice how nicely it frames the beautiful face. Makes the photo much better, I
think.
Thank you Kirk, virtuosos, elkhornsum, and Ed for your positive feedbacks.
@elkhornsun@: Thanks for the suggestion. I will try the old trick when I get a hand on the Nikon DC lens.
@Ed: Totally agreed with you about hat which I intentionally positioned that way to frame her face!
