My oh my , what a wonderful selection you have posted! I really have enjoyed seeing yours and Don's shots .
I can only imagine what it would be like to be so close and sense their power , especially when they are watching you.
Wonderful work Eric.
Birdie
Thanks Birdie, I think both Don and I really enjoyed the experience and found photographing these cats on foot exhilarating.

Great job, looks like you had a wonderful trip.

Thanks Kevin...I would have loved to see and photograph some young cubs....they still have some spots and even some stripes...I guess there's a reason to go back another time.

Hi Eric,
Another great series! Spectacular to see these felines doing their thing in the wild. They appear larger than our mountain lions in Colorado. Congrats again. -Jim
Thanks Jim...I suspect they are a bit bigger having so much food around. Also, it seems cold weather predators seem to grow larger than their warmer weather brethren.
Longest post ever. How'd you get so close with these last 3?!!!!!
You must be dining with that cat. And he's looking your; or should I say our: way in 35.
Don
A really great series of images, the cat seems to be constantly on the move, not easy to capture the shot that you want. For me 9 is the stand out image, it's the one that I wish I could have taken, super eye contact.

Really fun to see all of these together, Eric! What a fantastic experience. Next time, I'll have to give you some cheek swabs so you can get DNA samples!
Greg
Thanks Greg...I met the biologist from Brazil who works on Geoffrey's cats (I think that's the right spelling)...he was helping with a video that was being made of the pumas. Unfortunately my Portuguese is only slightly better than my ancient Greek so communication was limited

What a series, very impressive!
I've been there once but I never imagine it was possible to see them! and it almost looks easy looking at your images.
(some appear a little too green, 14-16, 26-27)
Thanks so much...some people who were hiking the national park got closer than they might have thought possible or even known there were pumas around....right place right time helps...but having a guide that knew the area made it all the more possible. And thanks for the cc...my color vision issues show their ugly head again....time to get a second set of eyes to be my color checker!
Eric, what can I say? These are magnificent and I can't even imagine the adrenaline rush you had to be feeling. Please keep up the adventures to share with us.

Definitely took advantage of a great opportunity. Thanks for sharing!!
You're proximity has me thinking if I would have the guts to hold what I have regarding the close proximity and the obvious acknowledgment from the cat that you are within striking distance.
JC
Thanks JC...one forgets there is not deterrent to the cats making a snack out of you....I just had to hope they realized that guanaco is much better tasting than I...do think this is a rather unique place to be able to view them...not sure I would be as brazen in the woods of the Pacific Northwest or Colorado.

I was channeling my inner CT....I'm hoping it can go on till we return or at least make plans for the next adventure. Get so close...whilst you were chimping, I was sliding forward on my belly getting ever closer and closer...not sure how the cat or you didn't notice...must have been the David Blaine effect...

Thanks Jim...and you are correct that there was quite a bit of movement during lots of the sightings...even when it was eating it moved quite a bit rather than just lie down and tuck into the carcass
