These photos do what photos should do. They create a mood by speaking for the photographer. I hear ya, Tony. These are wonderful.

Nice details and travelogue, Michael. However, when I'm in Bodie, I felt the complete opposite. I sensed complete peace and awe for the silent beauty all around me. It is interesting how two photographers interpret the same place differently based on individual vision: http://www.pbase.com/zeroscan/bodie2

Yes, I know what you mean. Most of my travel-mates felt peaceful too. Maybe I have a guilty conscience? . You have some amazing images of Bodie. Good job with them too!

These are stunning images. I hope you create a series of fine art prints with them and take them on the road. I am constantly impressed with the level of talent displayed in these forums. You make a mark with these. I don't know what your full-time job is; but I know what it should be.
Richard

Thanks Richard, Arka, Javier, Donnie.

Richard, I'm a software engineer but am trying to do more in the photography field, specializing in products...it's so hard though. I heard a great photographer said, "blessed are the photographers who knows what areas of photography to specialize in".

I have to SOOOO agree with him...

Thanks Nev Young, Nori, Chris Gee, Drury Armistead & Karthik.

Karthik, this is probably the highest compliment I've ever received. It has never occured to me or thought of my work as "inspiring". I really thank you for opening that door and telling me that. It truly warms my heart.

Warmest regards,

BTW did you try out the Manfroto arm bracket for your flash?

Cheers,

Thanks Marc, slau, Ned.

Marc, what Manfrotto arm bracket? Can you specify?

I really like the added reticulation effect that you created with the B/W image of the 5th picture. Cool pics.

Amazing shots.. I'm glad to see they haven't turned this into one of these cheesy tourist traps like most ghost towns (at least the ones I've visited). It really looks abandoned and...scary. Terrific!

Very interesting treatment Tony. I will check them out more seriously later when I have the time. Too bad you didn't join a group so you could go into the buildings. Let me know if you are interested in doing so for your next visit and I can send you the names of the leaders that conduct that service. And thanks for making me "home sick." I think I know where every image was taken. And on the link...thanks for the great shot of Rod. He performed the ceremony for a wedding I shot in the church a couple of years ago. He definately is a great guy with Bodie in his blood. BTW, those of us that love the place have changed the commas in the saying, and the frame on my license plate says, "Good, by God, I'm going to Bodie,!" Where is home for you and how often can you go back? You can PM me if you want. Again..great job! I can tell the hours you put into it with the first glance...

Didn't know "reticulate" can be used in this format... I thought it means like "veins on leaves"...are you sure it can be said for grains?

Thanks imac, Nigel, Phantom Knight, Walter Mitty, Buck Forester & BodieAngels.

BodieAngels, what are typically in the buildings that aren't allowed in?
Did you used to live NEAR Bodie or in Bodie

It's great to hear from someone who knows Bodie well. Also good to know the name of Rod. Thanks, will definitely let you know if I go back to Bodie. Does it require a large payment to go into the houses?
