This is really special Eric. I love the way the grass frames his head, wonderful composition, and your B&W conversion is superb. Excellent work my friend, I love it.

Not usually a fan of black and white on critters but I really like this one Eric. The setting in the weeds emphasize that he's a predator, an apex one at that!
Thanks so much...sometimes we need to look at things from a different perspective.

Much appreciated Jeff...was very lucky to get that eye in focus and I think that really helps the image.

The face looks almost like a caricature!! Great intensity. And that face is not even scarred.

Amazing how tough the life a male lion is and to be relatively pristine is a testament to very tough brothers

Yep, that's one photo that's worthy of praise. I hope you have printed it LARGE for your living room (or mine, if you don't have room!).
Gene
Thank you so much Gene...you are much too kind...I do think this one may well make itself to the printer.

Thanks Kirk...still trying to develop (no pun intended) a black and white style and have found that one size does not fit all but this seemed to be the best in this situation.
Interesting how black and white can look so different and impart such a different mood than the corresponding color image.

Very nice close up - What's in the King's mind
Many thanks Scott...and this was full frame which makes me even happier as I didn't lose an mp's by cropping....I believe the king may be thinking about his date with the queen or at the very least some buffalo wings
