Mark,
I love everything about this image. The leading foreground accentuated by the ultra-wide, the soft sky and great lighting. However, the yellow/green cast on the mountain seems a bit un-natural to me.

Thank you Fred! I really appreciate the feedback.

I checked using the Color Sampler tool in Photoshop and all those areas are yellowish biasing slightly toward orange not green. But I do agree, on a color correct monitor, the brain does seem to interpret/perceive them to be slightly yellow/green. So here is version 2, for those who may want them even more toward orange. I also reduced the saturation in Photoshops "Color" Blend Mode (so tones don't change) by 10 pts.

Mark, tremendous composition. Everything about the image is great. The sense of motion, the off color of a natural formation, or unnatural to some.
I havent read all the posts about the greenish cast but it can be entirely natural in many circumstances. I love it. Something rarely seen.
Great work!
Dan

Thank you Dan. I appreciate the feedback.

It is natural as I did no color balance manipulations there (and it looks very much how it looked to my eye). Also, it is not greenish. It is yellow with a bias away from Green, actually more toward Orange as I show here. But, I agree with Fred's comments in terms of how the brain perceives the areas. And for those who feel it looks unnatural, the alternative version hopefully suffices... Lastly, yellow is generally considered an "irritating" color in color theory circles (at least when I went to school and studied it) so sometimes I do think it is a good idea to shift away from it regardless of what was "real." Thanks again to Fred for pointing it out.

It's hard to find areas of improvement on your images Mark. Any constructive feedback is really nitpicking.
To me #2 looks better even if it deviates from what you saw. Like you wrote, perception is what counts.
Take care,
Fred

When I first saw this image I perceived greenish as well. I like the update much better. The combination of elements and leading lines are fantastic and this fixes what subconsciously bothered me. I believe that what we perceive from a photo is all that really matters (colors, horizon, etc.). Reality is no longer there, just the snap from a moment in time.

Thank you. I am a bit obsessed with the Canon 11-24 at 11mm. Best lens I have ever had.

That is great to hear. I have always loved wider. I hope you do and have fun with it!

14mm is hard enough to compose so I can't imagine 11mm! And yet you continue to make perfect use of such a wide angle! Really nice colours & composition in this one!

Corey

Hi Corey. I have never found wide to be hard. Maybe hard to find a new angle that feels new, fresh and unusual. I just turn on the camera and walk around (before the great light starts) and take literally hundreds of "TEST" shots for hours on end. This is the key. Then I take a break. I will evaluate them ALL (sometimes on my laptop) figure out the very best one or two, then go back for the good light. Fortunately here, I was taking "test" shots (teaching my client how) but the light looked awesome!

Thank you everyone!
